Heroes in pvp

Quote:
gamona: How can a character become a hero and how can a hero lose his status? What are the advantages of being one and what’s the reward if someone manages to kill a hero?

Aion-Team: Heroes have several levels, according to the Abyss points they have earned over a certain period of time. Once you become a hero, you can obtain exclusive skills according to each level, and you will be able to fight against enemy players ranging in number from 2 or 3 to scores by using those skills. Of course, there are some restrictions on using these skills, and you will become the same as a normal PC while these restrictions are applied. On the other hand, the PvP reward for players who catch these heroes will be greater than normal, just like the rewards for catching Party Monsters or Raid Monsters, and it does not matter whether the hero has lost his status or not. However, if the hero enters a zone while the restrictions are applied, everyone in the zone will be notified. That hero must get help from the members of his faction to defend against the enemy.
this looks like it could be really interesting. so from what i gather you hit XXX# of pvp and you get hero rank.. at XXXX# of pvps you get hero rank2
etc.. no mention of a limited number of heroes per server. they will take away your hero skills from time to time (keep the E-peen in check) the last line is curious, what are they sayiing there? to me that sounds like a massive pvp...
my first take on this set up is it sounds like it will be a lot of fun to both kill and be a hero.
fight against 2-3 or against scores of other players that sounds like a blast and a good motivator to pound pvp in the abyss.

sounds identical to l2 hero, the person with the best pvp record in his class gets it, some pwnage skills (buffs/debuffs) and benefits for your clan/faction.

nahh i think it looks different than L2 hero. L2 hero has nothing to do with your pvp score and everything to do with who is passing you points. this seems to be in direct relation to how you play the game as opposed to how many ppl you have willing to give you points in olympiad. L2 hero system is corrupted, i have seen clans bot toons to noble lvl and make them heros just for the clan rep points. says nothing about specific classes or number per server but clearly states its a direct reflection of your abyss points and that hero has multiple levels.

read the discription.

maybe you got your info somewhere else?

well in essence it is still the pvp record of each class, it just depends how you get those pvp points. Instanced arena/pvp with benefits completely ruins that side of the game. IMO l2's olympiad would much be better just overall pvp, not in the oly. Whoever got the highest +pvp's overall (maybe against nobles or clan wars only).

I read somewhere or saw in an interview there was a limited number of heroes (i also remember hearing 1 per class on each faction, but im not 100% sure about that one).

It can be abused just as much in aion...for example to people know each other, but play on different server...so they can each create a character on the other persons server, on the opposite faction, meet in the abyss and farm each other.

Kap - can I get the source of your quote?
Btw. that new system in Aion can be easily corrupted too. All depends on the profit (how much of a boost will the hero get from skills and how much of a factor can he be on the battlefield).

yeah killing your friends is an obvious exploit..... tbh L2 hero is a crap system. makes the rich richer. i WANT to believe that this system will actually reward the player for thier time and skill. think the best thing about it is that sometimes you are a killer hero and somtimes you go back to regular toon.

Kap - worse than that. Imagine farmer-like guild that will sell PvP points in the abyss (it can happen... we have clans in L2 that buy Clan Reputation Poinst from farmers, they are gained the same was - via killing hostile clan members). As I said: All depends on the possible profits.
Killing your buddy to get some better equipment, better looking wings is not a problem really.

I'll be the first to post from the perspective of GW.

I hope it will not be too similar to Guild Wars' way of earning "hero" points, or in other words, Gladiator titles. It was very difficult for an average person to earn it, and in Aion's case, to the point of impossibility for the average person to earn any without the presence of PvP characters.

its good to know that you can only play a race per server then, just imagine an entire clan making alts from the opposite race just so they can get free pvp points...now they'd have to buy new accounts at least. Also the points received will depend on the level, and there will be a death penalty, so that would reduce the farmers services's quality.

Way better than L2 system, there will be no free feeding, it seems.

people did it at wow, thats why i hated it. Before the inter-server BG was introduced you had a 30+ min wait for BG, and there was a 50% chance you would enter a game where 1 side was afk farming the other. They got in touch with the clan on the enemy side, and would agree to go afk for 30 mins while the other side farmed them, and vice versa.
