thats the whole point, its a tank class... they are suppose to soak up and tank a insane amount of damage in pvp. RF online you need at least 5-10 WELL geared people to take town a well geared tank, yet the tank can barely kill anyone. Its the way it should be, and many companies such as NCsoft fail to see it.

Edit: actually ill give WoW some credit, i did over 54k+ damage to a palidin in arena as a rogue and he still killed me after a long *** time lol =p

actually you make a good point; A tank is well a tank.. they aren't supposed to be dishing out damage. Cut their damage output in favor of superior armor and absorption it balances out. I think the big problem today is that people don't want to sit around doing nothing . EVERYOEN wants to deal damage and games are starting to cator to that; forgetting what helps make a gaming community strong.. teamwork.

I think that his point is that without a slight balance between killing and tanking the tanks ratio would be way lower. And i concur.

no one wants to be so dpendant. Tanks wants to be also able to kill something, priest too etc etc.

No one wants to be forced to group, and the ones that want to group pretending its a MMO so we "must" play with others dont want to have to wait long to find their groups.

that is just the reality of the mmorpgs masses ( the ones that most companis are aiming for ) now days.

people want to tank but they also want to deal damage. There seems to be an increasing "push" towards Solo play in MMOs. Tabula Rasa people were always whinning to the devs to make sure you can Solo the entire game. HG:L the same thing, Guild Wars always focused on the "solo" element except in a few spots where parties were manditory and people just argued and whinned about those areas.

People do want to Tank .. I LOOOOVEEE tanking.. it is what I was ment to do in MMOs. Just seeing the attitude people are taking on various forums and with vairous MMo/'sorta'mmo games it seems almost as if they want it all. Maybe I'm just wrong in my thinking on this or misreading the vibe ?

i'd take a idea from WoW to fix this. Beserker stance for less defense/more attack power. Protection stance for the opposite.

They couldn't do the stances thing, because that would take away the one thing that separated templars from gladiators. And I think it goes without saying that tanks will have the balance. It would be foolhardy not to give tanks enough damage power to solo.

ok lets try another thing.. how about RF onlines way, shield skills is what makes a tank... a tank. Without the shield, tanks take a beating, however this is a tradeoff when they are using polearms in order to increase their dps. Not so much as templar dps (gladiator spear/two handed users) but enough to have decent dps.

They arent saying you should or shouldn't give tanks the ablitily to solo the game.. just noting that in the true since of an MMO no one could solo anything.. you had to have a party.. tanks and priests could never kill anything alone and dps-ers couldn't take the hits to kill in time.

The trend of MMOs recently is making it so everyone can solo everything.. thats what they are talking about The fact thats its not really an MMO anymore.. just an online community of a bunch of people that can do everything alone but chose to party if they want.

Which completly ****es me off...I mean really ITS A MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER ONLINE GAME you want to solo? Go play mass effect, you didn't do anything but spam the trade chat anyway ^^

There have been many complaints of the possibility of soloing through the majority of the game. However, (as I have pointed out many times throughout my posts) Korean players have subtly complained that soloing was very difficult in Aion. Of course, it wouldn't be safe to compare the difficulty of the CBT to the full release, but it's something to consider.

And speaking of tanks, there were many Korean players who selected Templars and Gladiators from the SS and videos I've seen.
