Reading part 1 of 3... I have high hopes. Yes the game will have problems for a Beta. I mean hell I've beta tested some games that ended up really popular, and had pretty terrible beta tests. I understand where some of the complaints are coming from but honestly as someone said earlier.. it almost seemed as if people were wanting a WoW 2.0 out of it.
For the sake of pure balance I wasn't shocked to see Asmos adn Elyos are somewhat identical. It would be far to complicated to actually design two seperate games . The storyline is probably somewhat similar and they just change the textures (like in FFXI.. different starting areas were somewhat all the same in the end just with different monsters and terrains). In the end, the AION devs are going to have to sit down and read over the pros and cons listed and decide what is important to address, and what is simply people wanting a WoW 2.0 out of the game then hopefully act accordingly to improve the game ![]() Last edited by eternalchaos; 01-03-2008 at 08:39 PM.. |

Just because people want diversity in their games doesn't mean that they want a WoW 2.0. It's not like diversity among races and locations is and must be exclusive to WoW. And even if they are indeed taken from WoW, the great thing about progress is that you always take a bit of the old and good and form it into something new and better. But it's not like this game shares some similarities with WoW only. That Stigma system reminds me a lot of FFVII. The advanced class system is similar to Ragnarok Online, if I'm not mistaken.

elliot thanks for the post and especially to Kiyumi. I was somewhat surprised to have the reviewer on the pessimistic side -- but fortunately he/she seemed to be very honest about the game. Although a reader could instantly judge the game as "bad," simply by reading the review, I liked the fact the reviewer emphasized the fact the game was still in its early Closed Beta stage.

As most of us, I'm just concerned about endgame PvP relying on gear. I hate to craft and buy and arg... plus non tradeable gear, someone who gets the drop from an "epic" boss will be invincible.

You can't really tell if it will be gear-based from doing low-level PvP. Look at WoW for example, if you do PvP before 70 you'll always get dominated by the "twinks" because they have more money than you, yet the game is still the most successful MMO to date, so i'm not too worried about this.

I can't complain about the complaints because to me they come second anyway, I know how horrible!
I'm completely psyched that the game is so polished and detailed, the RvR may be simplified for now but at least it's there. Hopefully they'll add more to it. Thanks for the translation!! |

pointing it as a bad game?
Can't agree on that one, as it is right now my hype just got increased, it's closed beta, aka the stage after alpha, and they are already judging it as they would judge a finished game. My only concern about closed beta critics would be the broken promises and the turning worse effect, if you follow the progress of games such as War and AoC, you'll see how many players are actually saying they liked more the graphics and systems one year ago, here, everything we knew, what made us come here, has been accomplished already, there is only room for improvement, and we have a pair of months in front of us to get more of what we want, and some things we didnt even ask for. |

Yes the locations and animals could look a lot different since they are half a world apart and in very different enivroments. The quests should be altered to match those animals and enivirments... but i just don't think the factions themselfs should be all that different, and i dont really see why it is a casue for complaint. As some other peopel saidThe less differences the easier it is to balance anyways. The game will still have replayability.. theres still 8 classes to pick form that will all have different things going on. And if theres a great wealth of endgame content or a really good, engaging pvp system with rewards and what not people will play for years, regaurdless of how similar the factions are. __________________ ![]() Ask your questions Live in Flashchat! | MySpace | Check out the Ultimate FAQ thread. |

About rerolling also, reminder: You can only play a race per server, once you go asmodian templar on server #1, you can forget about being elyos templar on server #1, so keeping differences to a minimum wouldnt actually have as much impact as I'm guessing many of you play with friends, and your friends would want you to stay in the same server.
