All of this sounds great not only are they tackling almost every problem of past mmorpg games they actuly made it look good (unlike WoW looks god awful) and the fact that they are putting alot of work into content in general is great.
However i am worried about the PVP if its point and click , spam a few skills , laugh cause you have better gear and call it a day kind of fighting i will be very very put off this game in fact i wont play it , but from what i can see that would not be the case here. And as far as the 2 races having the same starting zones does anybody actuly know if 1. are the quests the same? 2. is it just the "starting zone" or are both sides of the world almost the same. either way for me it makes no differnce as this game will be the best mmorpg to date (at least for me) |

It goes back tot he whole: "You can't please all of the people all of the time".
The inherent problem with making both races too different is it can seriously affect game balance. And Honestly, those wanting to point a finger and say WoW pre-BC did it are only fooling themselves. Creating too much difference also creates too much drama. Do I need to bring up the whole "Blizzard clearly favors Alliance/Horde" crap that still gets slung around? That can very easily happen. Also, it's good to remember that it's still a closed beta, meaning they're primarily looking to fix any real technical issues right now. Everything else is easily tweakable via hot fixes. Such as designing and adding various skins for monsters in each realm, plopping in a few race-specific quests, etc. __________________

no statdistribution, only 8 classes, same euqipment, same skills they surly not aiming for experienced MMO players and PVPers maybe they wanna conquer the market of housewives now pretty graphics but as simple as it can be lol AION sounds for me worst then WoW atm... and btw... thousands of other games had great realm balancing, bringing up balancing as an excuse is just ridiculous... if u cant balance classes u suck as MMOdev |

Well I understand your point Dagan. The problem Aion is going to suffer in my book is going to be the "wings"
You've painted Asmos with Demon wings.. Elyos with Angel wings. I mean without knowing about the game you think "Demon and angel!" having similar moves and skills and stuff is sort of a let down then.. I personally think that the SL/PvE element on both sides shoudl be "equal". If it isn't you might get osmething like .. Oh the Elyos are just boring grind while the Asmos have alot more action.. you end up with a majority on one side. What would work in my book is "identical" gameplay in terms of quests and somewhat similar SL just taken fromt he opposite perspective (like HL: Opposing forces), and have similar skills until you hit race specific skils. A Elyos Templar would perhaps slam his sword down to unleash a shockwave around him dealing "Major" damage + stun. A Asmo Templar could shadow step to the target dealing "poor-average" damage + life stealing (or corruption; preventing foe from using skills for 5 seconds). The lack of damage the asmo would do is made up by the ability to shadow step + either steal health or prevent skill use But keep things like a basic sword attack to be the same. |

I'm with Dagan on the difference part, the mobs in Aion are exactly the same in some locations, they only changed the color of there skin(Like in L2 lol XD). I was hoping for a unique class for both sides, the current classes offered are very basic ones that all mmo's have. Although I don't get why the review is against a copy of everything of the other mmorpg's. Of course Aion doesn't introduce anything spanking new but if they take the best thing of each mmo I'd probably feel good playing Aion. They need to make both races different or they might as well fuse both races together >.>...

iamgine u go abyss and see same weapons/armors same skillanimations party configs and so on... that will be a big downer for me... i mean DOAC the nr1 RVR game had about 60 classes which u could skill like u want... every realm was unique in playstyle and look... and was still greatly balanced. and now i compare it to the RVR of AION... warhammer will even have 6 unique races. its normal that iam kinda shocked atm and critizise NC for a very poor performance since i want AION to be great as much as u Last edited by dagan; 01-04-2008 at 05:45 PM.. |
