Having P2P usually makes the gaming community a lot more serious(not in the sense that they don't have fun, in the sense that they are a lot more mature IN GENERAL, you don't act as as much of an *** when you can get banned an account your have spent a lot of money on).
But the difference in quality is undeniable. The difference in budget the 2 different kind of games have is huge. One game will make a few thousands a month, one game will make millions of dollars a month, and a lot of that money will be reinvested into the game itself, to ensure that the players stay there. The stakes aren't the same. I can tell you at least as someone who has played both, I don't think I could ever go back to a free MMO. I pay for quality, and $15 a month, which is the price of a movie and a popcorn, for that HUGE difference in quality and, thus, my personal enjoyment, is very well worth it for all the hours I will be putting on that game. It does not even need to be argued, look at the numbers of subscribers of P2P games vs Free to play games. The numbers speak for themselves. It is not a matter of opinion. If you are happy with your free to play games, fine by me, enjoy yourself. There is nothing wrong with that. You just don't know what you are missing, and maybe it's better this way, since, unlike me, you can still play free games.(I currently play free Exsteel myself, and after the first minute, and now many hours, I've noticed the difference and I know I won't stick around long.) But others like me are looking for a better experience, and that kind of rewarding deep involvement can only be found on P2P. It is a whole other level, and like everything in life, better is more expensive. On a side note, just sightly related to the subject at hand, P2P also makes for a much better economy in the MMO area, thus more incentive for companies to develop great products. It litteraly drives the genre, so to speak. __________________ ~Through violence and horror shall honour arise~ Last edited by Dekar; 01-30-2008 at 12:34 AM.. |

Oh and I forgot, you said that 16$ was "outrageous", 16$ for a month of enjoyment any time you want it, that's outrageous? The stuff you get for that price is barely enjoyment then it's gone, while this gives you a month of it.

He's never tried WoW or any other P2P games, so I'd assume free games define the MMORPG genre for him. You get what you pay for really, if Aion were going to be a free game I really wouldn't bother looking forward to its release. |

But honestly, I don't mind paying-- but it's just that I'd also like to see some other payment options. I dunno, maybe like XX amount of dollars for XX amount of hours. Oftentimes, I can only play during a few odd times every once in a while; I understand that "then maybe I shouldn't play" or whatever, but it's still something I'd really like to see. Otherwise, I'd almost feel like I'm wasting the time I'm not playing...or something like that. xD
Meh, of course I'll still pay if there's only the monthly fee, but I can dream. ![]() __________________ ![]() |

Not only that, Gpotato didn't even develop Rappelz, they simply brought it outside of Korea. Gpotato is also tiny compared to NCsoft. So no, they cannot do it for free. __________________ ![]() Bringin the heat

i have only hope that NCsoft's not planning to do same think as WoW.Im talking about updates. Every new udpate u have to spend around 40$ /40euro or more.Lineage 2 was great with that. Every Cronic was free.
Hmm 15$/month is not alot but in some countries is a lot... |

lol maple story or gtfo.
Seriously you think that **** is good? the only almost good f2p ive ever actually experienced was SRO, almost. P2P keeps thousands of morons out of the game and most of these so called "games" are 'top rated' as you put it through the vast number of nyerks that play that crap. Yes if your wondering, i did lol irl when i saw maple stories website. |

When you go to the store and buy food do you ask if you can have it for free?
