I find it interesting that everyone hates currency sellers yet people obviously still use them or they wouldn't waste their time. I mean those guy make a killing on selling digital money - why? Because people buy it of course.

You guys really want to stop currency sellers and grind bots? Don't buy money, levels, or items with real cash!!!

I wanna cut something that Bahamut said and throw it into this discussion, because it is the end all solution to the problem. It's a fundamental part of MMOs that the majority of the gameplay is repetitive, easy, and therefore easily overcome by botting programs. The only reason people buy gold is because the horrible gameplay is not worth the time. Cut out the stupid AI, the repetitive crap, and make the game about player competition; that is the only way to create a economy that works. Even then, you'll have gold sellers, but they have to work as hard as everyone else to get gold. If you want to have the "traditional" PvE game, your AI better be light-years beyond what it is now, and you have to pray that your players can't create something better to counter it.

I'm not saying people should cheat, but what I do say is that cheating is rarely the problem in MMOs, ****** gameplay is. So many MMOs come out with dry tacticless gameplay which can be beaten by a bot, and the problem is bots? I say the problem is gameplay, you could improve security to try and protect inferior gameplay, or just enhance the gameplay with intelligent responses and tactical depth that will throw off a bot and make the game more engaging at the same time.

In the end, there is no way to beat professional botting, they will spend money to make money, they will buy more and multiple accounts, or even hack the game or other players to get accounts, and they will program sufficeintly to meet whatever challenge the game can produce. What developers should really be concerned about is that players are so involved and satisfied with the gameplay that they wouldn't want to cheat, or bot just to get some money or growth. When MMO games stop being about how to preoccupy the player and get more subscription out of them, than companies which exploit their game to make money will also subside, MMO games need to be like console games which are designed with the explicit intend of being good enough to buy and generate sales based on satisfaction and reputation, not hype and addiction.

When I finally play an MMO which is worth every moment of time I put into it, and than see someone botting or cheating, I will just say, oh well, they will never get the satisfaction I do out of the game. As it stands now, I just say, good for them, they arn't victim to this ****** gameplay. When it comes to problems like unstabalizing economies and obscured possesions, solving botting isn't the solution, a direct stabalizer and security on gameplay economy should be developed to ensure that prices can't shift beyond comparable value no matter what is affecting the economy. I find it mind boggling that gamers feel the need to have these risky economic systems in videogames which are ment to be about combat and war, why subject yourself to the same economic strife and difficulty you have to face in real life? I have a real business and pursuit to become wealthy already, I don't need to waste my time faking it in a game that I am interested in for the combat, go play billionare conquest if you want to master fake finances, how bogus?

Making direct solutions to root problems is how real and lasting improvements are created, wasting time trying to remedy symtomes all the time only escalates the problem until the most greedy eventually win, and those will always be the ones that are in it for the money.
