In-game Currency Sellers

One thing I hope that NCSoft can KILL is the in-game currency sellers that almost all MMOs have a problem with. Because most of the times they screw the economy of the game up. I'm talking banning IPs and banning accounts. I don't want to see Aion get screwed up by that crap.

If I'm paying 10 or more dollars a month for Aion I would not want to see BS in-game currency seller spam while I am trying to enjoy a game as beautiful as Aion.

Just my 2 cents on that.

I wouldn't mind the gold selling as much if it didnt mess the with economy or fill the chat box with spam.

Yeah, there are games where the currency sellers have no effect on the game economy. But most of the time you see some shouts about their websites slung out in shouts, and that gets very annoying.

Well its the only game they ruin,

Yeah gold sellers are the suck, but there is no way to get rid of them, Especially in a loot driven economy.

Yes but they won't stop it. There are over 1000 private servers for L2 and the only time they "felt" like closing one was L2 Extreme because they had over 1 million people registered on the forums.

wrong topic lolz :d

OT: Gold buyers should be banned, that would ruin the sellers as nobody would have the balls.

yeah...ive heard of some games where they ban people for trading around large amounts of money, but I dont think that is smart, some clans might give out a crapload of money for someone to buy gear, or if you are rich you may give your new friend a lot of money if he just started playing..

But imo banning the buyers is a good idea, gms can look at log, they can trace any transaction and any item up to the point it was created/dropped

The RMTs usually don't make transactions with only one character. Instead, they give small amounts of in-game currency with several characters, so they can avoid this kind of tracking.

And to give my 2 cents, yes, I really hope that every action that will break the EULA will be punished with a well deserved ban. Including bots, farmers and RMTs. But this only depends on the GMing staff and their superiors. If they want to ignore all these cheaters just because they give a pretty good income through the hundreds of accounts they pay each month, it won't be OK with the legit players that only want to play in a healthy, economical stable environment.

Something interest you all, you all talked about chinese gold farmer, and yes they do exist, they have a website setup internationally for them to work out exchange rate between different game, they are more then just farmer now, its a international co operation.

They setup key logger program on website to cache your login password, they put virus in torrent we download, they then use your account spam the game, they setup big guild in game to explain they big storing in game gold.

How does gold and item flow in our real world?

personal or workgroup of professional player (we call them that in china, they are generally people who doesn't like proper job or school they make a living on farming game) normally just sell to a international buyer group (which mostly run by chinese grown up in western country who have advantage in language)

Between those buying group company they distrubute item and gold among them offcourse there is a database setup sort of like Wall Street stock exchange, different game gold have they own value and it changes daily.

Then theses player who buy gold off them, heres suprise bit, if you buy from CompanyA website the gold or item is actually runned by another company who stores the gold and item sort of like a warehouse, they don't work in the frontline they dont want they account to be caught and exposed, instead they pay commission for others to sell on they behalf.

(Heres a solution you wouldn't want, NCsoft only have 1 plan charges us $200US for account say for 1 years, this way each account they get banned they lose $200 this way lose > profit they wont be in business, otherwise there will always be seller/buyer)

Although we all hope our game can be cleaned and Dev can actually stop things from happening, but reality is nothing like it.

Microsoft invested billion to keep they software un crackable, look what happened, Sony have invest billion to keep modding of they playstation, look what happened.

Man created protection, Man created the work around it.

My point here is do not relay on the Dev to stop everything, toward the above organisation they are powerless. International cops cannot stop drug flow into the street, same cases here.

If player wants a cleaner enviroment a player should start by asking them self, "why are we buying it in the first place" I doubt I will see that day, theres a large percentage of player who play the game by spending more money then other, simply because they can afford it.

If you really enjoy the game then play it at your own way, yes you will be affected by the gold seller inflating market, that is the way of life, call it a quit if you cant live with it.

I don't understand why no mmorpg can make a decent chat filter.
There are only so many ways that people can advertise that they sell gold before it becomes unreadable to potential buyers.

Simple sentences like "Buy our gold" are not even detected by most mmorpgs. You would expect that an mmorpg server can detect these chat messages and auto quelch the player it comes from if he spams it more than 10 times a minute.

The legit players report the gold sellers and the bots and the devs do nothing. So we have accept that they are part of online games, including games where gold is easy to come by such as Archlord. What i would like to see is a good chat filter as i hate my chat log being completely filled up with pm's and shouts from these ppl and i cant see the real pm's and shouts.

>< Naming so and so game is filled with gold spammers and saying they ruined the game is fruitless as ANY mmo has them. Gaming companies try to fight it out by adding one click spam buttons and such. It's also the player's responsibility to report them, and NOT buy gold. If you've never met or known anyone who has bought gold raise your hand. I know I can't.. ; ;

I'm being defensive because the games I've played lately have been FFXI, Vanguard, EQ2 and LotrO and those companies have done a lot to try to eliminate gold sellers. I wouldn't know about F2P or *cough* Lineage.

But I agree with the OP I don't want to see them and thus report them when I get /tells or in game mail.. >.> I really, really hope NCsoft US proves us wrong by actively banning accounts and so forth. And if they happen to ban innocent player's account, they should do something about that like apologize and reinstate accounts pronto, like LotrO did this summer...
