all I have to say on this is that it would be fun to fight another player with differnent skills, just so that it wouldnt be like fighting everyone else. I want to get more than just fighting someone with the same skills than 100 differnet ppl.

ya dig.

I believe mmos slightly more pvp based should require (more) skill, otherwise the whole rock, paper, scissors is just boring. Skill in each game is different to another, mmo/fps but each require some sort of skill.

mmo you have reaction time, determining your skill patterns for each class, knowing the class you are versing so you know the skills they use, and how to counter those skills. In mmos there is also some guessing, thinking ahead, saying will they use this skill next, should i be ready to counter with this skill etc.

I mainly focus in pvp as you should have noticed, so i would definitely rather a mmo that is more skilled based.

Demanding skill from a MMO is kinda ridiculous, they are very easy and repetitive. Despite this, i demand the highest skill required from MMOs or they just aren't fun, thats why i stopped raiding in wow. There is a saying a about PvE "Sometimes there is fire, don't stand in the fire". Even wow PvP is quite simple, i have been running teams up to 2000 over and over(to sell 3 games a week to people with bad teams), there is no way i wont make gladiator if i don't put in a tiny amount of effort. And even with that its in my opinion that wow the most complex, hardest game around ATM. MMOs are made so everyone can play and enjoy them, so i don't think they will ever be very hard unless one gets made aimed at experienced gamers.

strategy based for large scale pvp... - skill because it shouldnt be something like jupiter vs pluto - now who do you wanna be in that lol? - skills make it the game more fun to, something different each time when fighting someone - but as postiez said, it should be a game not aimed towards experienced gamers, but for people, munchkins, trolls, etc in general

wow the most complex, hardest game around ATM.

MMOs are made so everyone can play and enjoy them, so i don't think they will ever be very hard unless one gets made aimed at experienced gamers.

I would like to talk about those three points.

1) demanding skill from a mmo isn't that ridiculous. FFXI had it and so did other games. GW isn't really a mmorpg but still thir PvP required skilled or u'll get owned. Games out there already prove u can have skill in a mmorpg.

2) WoW isn't that complex. but u're kinda right its one of the hardest around ATM not including games that was released before WoW. This is why its sad.

3) I would really like to point out before WoW mmorpg was still made for everyone to enjoy. But that didn't stop them from giving us player a challenge. U said "i don't think they will ever be very hard unless one gets made aimed at experienced player" I don't know about you but before WoW came out it was pretty complex at time and bosses, quest, leveling was pretty hard and challenging. WoW just dumb it down a lot for casual players. Seems like now a day they are making mmorpg for the casual player and not the hardcore players like me and other that have been playing mmorpg since UO, L2, FFXI etc.

I don't hate on WoW since I have 2 level 60 which was maxed level when I left. It was fun but not challenging at all.

I really hope people stop thinking all mmorpg gotta be tailor to casual gamers. They should have games made just for casual mmorpg players and games made for the old school hardcore players. Just pick the game u wanna play and don't trash the other because its not what u want.

To me WoW was easy since I played games like UO, FFXI and L2. but for some people WoW is hard since they never really experience other mmorpg. I just hope the mmorpg genre doesn't start over dumbing games because they're trying to attract the casual player and forgetting about us hardcore player that supported them for years when the casual weren't around!

Make games for casual and hardcore and let them pick what they wanna play!

You need to find a correct balance between the 2 but overall some classes will be able to beat others beccause of what they are.

Some people have skills that allow them to think, some have only those that allow them to mush buttons with insane speed. Isn't it both "skill"? Some people like to play games that give credit for thinking, some for mangoose-like reflexes and cat's grace while using both hands (and preferably feet too) to operate the whole keybord and mouse at the same time.
Now tell me how the hell does that "skillzzzz muss man haben, bro' " dispute apply to MMO genre and Aion in particular? You can't even agree on the definition of "skill" in game ane yet there is a heated discusion about it.
And whoever thought that comparing MMO to FPS games isn't the worse idea ever in the first place?

Well if the game is fast and action paced like it looks, its gonna be bigger on reaction speed and less on thinking. Of course without knowing the stigma systems limitations and game mechanics, we're still shooting blind like always. It seems like its always like that in these kind of mmos, fast reflexes save the day having reflexes is more important than just a set strategy. I guess I see why they do this, makes it feel like you're actually fighting your enemy instead of sitting back half-way through the battle knowing you've won / lost already.

When you talk about reflexes i assume you mean the ability to adapt to all kind of scenarios? and as junsakurada said the game do look pretty fast which will take some "skill" out of the players and thats a good thing.
As a wow player i must say that theyre destroying it for the "hardcores" when they make everything for the casuals nowadays, hopefully aion will give us a balance between the two ( heck castlesieges combo pvp/airduels doesent look casual-friendly to me )

It will require reaction speed, but those who can combine it with thinking will be the best.
