funny, first they advertise the western style they want to give to the game, then they give you the feeling they care about you (NA/EU) talking about the open beta, now the CB is going to be larger (for the koreans) and the open beta "won’t really play that important of a role"...
... ... thank you NCSoft for caring so much... summing the latest infos about the game Aion is going to be lineage 3... don't believe it if you want... |

First, the open beta that NCSoft is refering to in this translation, is the Korean Open beta, not the NA/EU.
Second, they never said that the Beta for NA/EU will be important for them, it's just for localization fix and servers. And hm... in general, Open beta is made for large scale test on servers, not for tweaking the game. (but it's the "first" step regarding classes balance and PvP...) |

Also, mmo's are incredibly popular in Korea, there's this game where you have to create an animal(dog or cat) to chat and kill mobs. The game has a monthly fee and in-game stores, the game looks like crap to us and yet they have 800 thousand people playing it. |

Great translation and nice to get a good time line of things. Since the testers have all said it is stable enough for release it seems to make sense what they plan on doing. They have alot of input for fixes, so they fix them and run a larger 2nd CBT to ensure they fixed the majority of those (or at least the important ones) and then run a short OB for server stress testing/polishing of any loose ends found in 2nd CBT. I would be willing to bet the release will be in August.
To all the people dogging NCSoft: Do you really think you know anything about International Business? Your "everyone should work on 1 game" logic would be like telling Ford to have all of its R&D teams to work on one car so it can be super rad...forget the rest, lol. I seriously doubt any of you have the managerial skills to run a McDonalds, much less a corporation the size of NCSoft. So please stop QQing and *****ing, no one wants to read it. __________________ ![]() |

Karu, I would more liken NCSoft to a movie production company... because they are a production company. They produce video games. They do some of their own development in their own development studios, but each of these studios is a separate entity (coordinating development between the Austin studio and the Seoul studio would be ridiculous... especially for NCSoft who can't even coordinate the release of information and give us a decent mother ****ing website).
The fact that they're producing six games at once means nothing. I've said this before in other threads and you people just won't bloody listen. It's like if Warner only made one movie at a time. That's not how it works. They're not the development company. They're the money. They pay production costs because an independant studio would have a much, much more difficult time doing it by themselves. Now, if each development studio was working on multiple games at once I would see your problem, but then you're talking about individual studios, not NCSoft as a producer. So please, leave this point alone unless you're talking about individual development studios. Moving on to blizzard being a bad company and NCSoft being a bad company... all I'm going to say is that I've consistantly wanted to love NCSoft games and ended up horribly disappointed, and I've always been thoroughly annoyed with Blizzard games pre-release and completely adored them once I played them. I'll take pre-release annoyance and post-release love over pre-release love and post-release disappointment any day. That said, I know a lot of people that hate Blizzard games and love NCSoft games, so... personal opinion I guess. |

Oi, just ignore Karu. Anyways,
I can say that Blizzard is an incredibly excellent company. They listen to player complaints, correct them, and they work thoroughly on all their projects. They spent over $100 Million Dollars developing WoW, now that is commitment. Saying they aren't really is stupid. Everything they make and everything they touch is gold, and I hate to admit that. __________________ ![]() God of Deceitful Smiles. It shall be engraved upon your soul!... Divine Assault!... And Blizzard's solution to fix these problems are what? to break down a class even more forcing it to play 1 role and only one role when your suppose to have three talent trees? and then beefing up a class with a hand full of steroids? that's not fixing the problem that's just dusting the problem under a carpet and hoping nobody notices. The only good games that I tip my hat off to blizzard is starcraft and Warcraft, I'm sorry, but everything they touch is not gold. __________________ ![]() |

What you say is true, however, at least they're trying and letting the gamers know that they hear them by making like at least one update/fix a week on a lot of things. But it is strange that by now things aren't 100% balanced, since they keep trying over and over. Also, you forgot the Diablo series, which has sold over 17 million total, and at that time period there were a lot less PC players, a lot less videogame players in fact. All the other games they've made, the Warcraft series, sold modest amounts, not ground-breaking, but I still classify it as "gold-touching"
![]() Edit: I think we'll ruin this topic if we keep talking about Blizzard. __________________ ![]() God of Deceitful Smiles. It shall be engraved upon your soul!... Divine Assault!... Nibelung Valesti!!! |

I'd say on release all the systems they planned on wont be there. Its just how it works. Alot of the time from here untill Gold will be polishing a tightening animations, Ai, code and lighting. With the design team fixing skills and quests and stuff. Implementing the stigma system will be the biggest priority besides a release. So at least we will have a fairly neat game by release.
Working in the games industry helps me understand a thing or two about decisions like this. I could explain why they develop/publish 6 mmos at the same time. but im too tired. Been waititng all night for dominance war III to start and it hasnt yet D: |
