cool stuff translating that much info
now we can also discuss in this thread as to what crafting will entail as well ( we have a rough idea what it will be like at any rate ) . Cost of learning a profession : this depends on how much currency you can acquire through drops . Ideally you'd be able to purchase a profession without it having any impact on other expenditures . Droprate of materials : this is dicussed in that Q&A , apparently droprate for some stuff was a bit low . They need to make sure it's fairly easy to acquire the mats .No grinding for mats until green in face ,please . Crafting process itself : I think that's ok as long as you rate of success isn't too low when you haven't reach the level yet . Needs careful balancing ,that one . crafting facilities : make absolutely certain there's enough locations where you can craft items . If you do this in major cities only ,we can all predict massive congestion and lag in those places due to amount of players frequenting those facilities . You need to avoid having massive amounts of players in one spot ( the way it's described you might actually have to wait for your turn to be able to craft ) . This is also in the Q& A and is a very valid concern ,imo . It's ok to limit those locations for closed beta ,apparently , but we can be sure it's an entire different ballgame when you get to open beta ( let alone when game goes live ) . I was noticing odd stuff as well : can healers wear mail armor ? It says the armor smithing profession is applicable to healing classes as well . Can rangers use magic as that profession is for rangers and wizards etc. ? Cooking should be an open profession, maybe it is already . In WoW you have 2 "real " professions and do cooking ,fishing and first aid regardless of that. Those are seperate . That's a fine idea . I don't know if Aion will have cooking available to all or if you have a limited amount of professions and cooking is one of those . Also: make sure crafting is an important part of the game . I want to be able to craft stuff which makes me fully capable to reach end game content ( i.e. : don't make the difference between dropped items and crafted items so big you have to have the dropped items to progress ) . That's a huge mistake as it actually creates a sort of elite- player base and all others ( "haves and have-nots " ) . We don't want a repeat of the "epic -rush " we are seeing in WoW . Anyone else notice in the article it gave away that pole-arms and great-swords are in the game because we haven't seen a video with either one. Good, good.

Great, I wonder if we will be able to only take the gathering aspect of professions.

Losing a % of the mats would be more acceptable. Or maybe just all the mats that you can buy from a vendor, so it becomes a bit of a money sink and not a complete bust. But I just don't see the appeal of having your hard work yield absolutely nothing. Having to start from scratch, and having no more guarantee it will do any better the next time you try. |

Just pratice on making easier things for a while and then your crafting level will be high enough for you to tackle something harder. Kinda like grinding to beat a big boss in an old-style RPG.

It will only truly suck if they utilize the current trend of looted being almost always superior than crafted.
