Aion vs W.A.R: Collector's Editions?

I know its been discussed previously (Late Nov. if I remember right) but, I got something in my inbox that I figured was worth bringing up.

Though I'm completely pro Aion, like alot of people, I follow the Warhammer: AoE development as well. I don't know how many people have seen this but, check this out:

Now, I'm not saying jump ship at all. I'm saying that since I have faith that Aion will be designed to be a superior game, I'm wondering if they'll set the trend for the superior collectors edition? Thats some stiff competition up there IMO.

Aside from the awesome look of it, theres a graphic novel, mini figure and an artbook inside. For ingame content, theres unique customization options, bonus quests with titles, a re-usable exp booster item, a 'pocket camp' for improved health regen between fights, and prolly other stuff I can't remember.

Here's an interesting part though:

Theres Pre-order collector's ed bonuses! ANOTHER ingame item dependant on where you order from (weapon buffs), open beta access, and a guarenteed head start in-game on release for collector's ed. owners.

SO, since we all have ideas about what would make the ultimate collector's edition, I think it may be close enough to launch to start getting some hype going for it, some 'official' involvement, and maybe some UNIQUE ideas from something that would really set Aion's Coll Ed. apart?

Aion could do it. WAR basically copied GuildWars. GuildWars started all this Collector's Edition craziness and I daresay it did it best. People still ask where I got my glowing hands from and are quite disappointed when I tell them, because there's no way they can find an original CE for sale anymore. As for WAR's CE, I lol'd because I knew about it for a while. Gotta love being part of the press.

To anyone who thinks Aion won't have a CE, you're most likely wrong. Aion is probably going to have a CE. Last year I found the UPC codes for the regular and CE versions and added them to the UPC database. The latest play Magazine article also says Aion will have one.

Aion has a novel in the works too, said NCsoft in an interview a while ago.

Ya, I never really doubted that Aion would have a CE myself. I mean, how many big MMORPGs have come out recently without one? I really hope that Aion's includes little unique things for different aspects of gameplay.

Examples for characters:

Really unique char customization options (special facial effects, glow effects, wing effects, flight effects etc.) or maybe a bonus aura effect? I wouldn't mind if I stood still and, instead of the standard idle shuffle, my character clinched a fist and had lightning run up their arm or something.

Examples for Legions:

Maybe a unique cape style or, unique crests / crest options? Going off the rumor of legion houses, maybe some unique customization options there? Or how about a starter unique NPC for your legion's fortress or house or whatever? If your legion takes over a fort, maybe you get a special head of security, henchman, or a bulter. That'd be cool. Hell, even a legion 'pet'?

Examples for starter bonuses:

I'd like to see a quest chain for a special group membership. One for Elyos, one for Asmo so CE owners are part of something with a community sense to it. At the end, you get the trinket and a unique title. Ex: Quest chain for Elyos 'Defenders of the Dawn'. Complete the chain, get the title of 'Agent of the Dawn' and a choice of 1 item out of 4. Each gives a different bonus; a minor wep buff, def buff, or even a minor HoT? Maybe a badge like 'Sign of the Defender' or something?

Thats just ideas for gameplay bonus items. Theres tons of stuff you could do. Maybe someone else wants to throw out some specific ideas for gameplay options or tangible bonuses specific to Aion itself?

a special pet like a murloc in WoW...or the pets u get in L2...theres a shark that swims around on the ground lol

some people might like the RL jewelry from L2 lol, they made actuall tattoesian earrings, rings and necklaces...but i think its stupid

Aoc is doing something very similar. PO Mount, Exp Ring, Special Cape, Art Book, etc.

I wonder how much its going to cost, prob around 60-80$? I definately am going to get one for sure though, hopefully it comes with a little pet that does some unique things, and some other cool items and features.

They're usually $70 or $80. Since they're starting to put more stuff in them now, probably the $80. I believe that's what both the WAR and AoC ones are.

Vanguard, despite it's ill-fatedness, had a pretty good CE. Full color art book, a cloth map of the world, the entire soundtrack- which wasn't bad at all, 10 buddy keys, and an in-game item all in a really nice hardboard box with a cloth interior.

Aion has enough beautiful concept art to blow other artbooks out of the water- I mean.. if they can get 500 people to join their facebook group just for a piece of concept art, its something special. I always make fun of WoW's graphics and I told my buddy today that Aion's concept art is like WoW's actual graphics. It's that good.

The soundtrack is just screaming to be in the CE. Just the snippets we've heard have been awesome.

And I'm sure they have other plans for it as well.

I would buy the CE if it was worth it. A world map would be essential since it's quite useful, OST would be great aswell, and if they could put like 2 months free of payment I would grab the game out of the shelf in no time.

Amazon has the Aion collector's addition listed at $70. Not sure what's in it, but if it has the soundtrack I'd buy it for that only.
