I sure hope that's the case. Seems to me like it's getting pretty late to add somthing as complex as swimming. There's more to it than a few animations, not to mention we all want underwater gameplay content.

I'm also a little worried they're going to turn aerial combat into a common scenario. Maneuvering your character in a 3D environment is much less precise than doing the same on a 2D plane (walking). Also, they'll have to completely revamp class balance for aerial combat as the same rules simply do not apply.
In fact, I'd wish flight was mainly a traveling method. Kind of like WoW's flying mounts except none of the nearly complete safety in the air as you could be attacked by other people in the air. Last edited by Frein; 04-14-2008 at 11:59 AM.. |

Well, as long as we can actually swim I think I'd be happy. Not being able to at least swim across the surface of water is slightly restrictive for an MMO.

I don't get the whole swimming thing. I've never felt like it would make any MMORPG better if you'd be able to swim and in the games I could I've never found it to be a necessary feature. And Aion is about flying, not swimming.
But all those other points sound pretty... well... made of fail to be honest. Things such as boss fights which are connected to quests should always be instanced. Otherwise you end up waiting for mobs to spawn and waste hours of your playtime doing nothing. Sure, the competition thing and the adrenaline when finally getting the boss mob is something I'd consider good, but it's not worth spending hours over hours waiting just for that moment imo. And if the item isn't even a 100% drop, it can get very frustrating for unlucky people, which sucks. Bad compromise imo. Make the fights harder and strategy based, but instanced if related to quests. That'd work much better. And this trainer only in the main city thing, while it's a pain in the *** to get back there thing would also **** me off. Unacceptable imo. I'm hoping that most of the problems mentioned here are results of the game still being in a CB stage. As far as the whole swimming thing, I don't think it's much of an issue. Like Ayase pointed out, this game is about going up, not down. Maybe instead of a swimming animation we could walk on the water with our wings out or something, or just go straight-out jesus and walk on water with no assistance at all. I realize that kind of sounds like a cop-out on the developers part, but we're supposed to be Daeva with the power of flight; walking on water doesn't sound too far-fetched to me.

You could complain about not being able to complain.

I see that as forcing the player to actually visit the main city every once and a while. Otherwise someone spent a ton of time on it and it'll go unused because everything you can do there you can do anywhere else. Where's the fun in that?

Because if I was a master crafter or wanted to teach people a craft I would move to a small village as opposed to the major city where my demand would be higher.
