Really wish they would make the party size 8 people and integrate all classes as a natural staple for battle.

I think the mark of a good game is that a party can work full of any one class if they play a certain strategy.

Hum, that is definitly not good. Usually the tanker party has more buffers and healers in it (you can see this in most of the mmo's around, i saw this in l2, wow and war) then dps'ers, that would mean the tank party will get most of the time less xp on raids and this is totally stupid and unfair, i hope this isn't true.

Yeah, I agree. But since it seems like most of the leveling is through quests, it won't be a problem. It wasn't really a problem in L2 due to raids giving low experience, and WoW was also a quest-leveling system so no one really cared. So, I doubt it'll hinder the leveling process for the tank party.

Not many people are going to do a 24-man combined raid party just for the hell of it. Most parties will be normal 6-man parties and thus most worries are invalid.

Still, a party full of tanks and healers with no DPS is a bad party idea. Spread them out evenly.

I agree with the 8-man party idea. Is it really even a good idea to have a full party full of mages or dps etc..? In my mmo exp ive never seen anyone try that.

8-man party makes it too easy to have one of each class. A 6-man party makes sense, you have to really choose what you want instead of having one of each.

I'm not worried about it for raids. With 4 teams, there are bound to be enough supporters spread out to keep everyone alive and healthy. 6 person cap for normal parties though, that kinda sucks...you figure a lot of people will like a cleric/chanter combo for obvious reasons, then a templar for aggro and probably a sorcerer/ranger for nuking bliss...that leaves room for one, and my guess is it will go to the assassin or gladiator. Mind you I haven't played yet, so this is speculation, but from prior MMO experience this is usually how it ends up; buffer, healer, tank, nuker, dd, everything else.

That's the point, if a party is set at 8, than there is less competition between DD and Healer classes, you can just choose everyone, and also balance their abilities and contributions to ensure that the best party is one that includes all of them rather than flipping a coin to see if Assassin or Gladiator is going to be more help, or Sorcerer instead of SpiritMaster. In an alliance with 8 man parties, you reduce the alliance size to 3, which is still 24, and in an 8 man party, it pretty much forces you to break the basic 1 opponent mold and try something different like multiple opponents, or at least 2 in general.

Well mark that is usually what happen, specially because pve Raids (this is the pve setup mainly), only the main tank and, sometimes, the off-tank will take damage, so you put healers mostly for those 2 guys (usually 2 healers for the tankers and an off-healer to take care of the rest of the party and help the other 2). So most common way to spread the people is to do a tank/heal/buff party and others of dps'ers.

But you gotta addmit make xp distribution based on damage is a weird way, usually you distribute it based on lvl what is a lot more correct in any way. I wonder how a healer will think about this, it would be absolutly dependant on other players in raid once it's primary role is heal and not waste mp on dps...

Now I have been following this game for a little over a year. I finally registered here. Is there confirmation that the raid size is 24 people? Wikipedia says its old school 54 people like EQ was. I was hoping for a huge raid. Also I saw a video of a raid force it looked like it was more than 24. Any confirmation guys?

No Raids are mainly to do fun stuff and get improved loot of the Raid bosses, but the xp (if needed) should be divided equaly not on a system that gives more to who does more dmg, because obviously those wil be the dps classes, and sorry to say but lvl a dps is easy, that is not like when it comes to tankers and healers.
