L2 population decline was caused by many factors we're all aware of; bots, the endless grind and whatnot.
I think adding channels for the beginners area is a very nice idea, will prevent lag, KS and every other problems Korea have encountered when they begun the CBTs. __________________ ![]() Signy by HunterX ~welcome to this place I like to call Earth, 'cause there's no such thing as Hell. |

God avoiding the initial storm of players and noobs is almost worth not playing Aion for the first week it's out.
"Stop KSing me ZOMG!" "I'm calling my Guild to PK you" Non-stop whining and complaining, it gets so annoying @_@ I may just turn on chat filters for the first week of Aion (Public Chat) because that stuff gets old quick. |

Thanks for the official response. It really is comforting knowing NC is actually listening
![]() The channels idea sounds wonderful also. I just hope if low server pop ever becomes an issue that it will be dealt with. Some other games they just let the servers die and the players went with the server cause no one wants to re roll >_< |

WoW has that aswell and I don't see any problem with it. In fact, it just helps them to filter serers when they become boring and empty. It's nice to give players the opportunity to permanently stay on a competitive server.

L2 charges more than the price of the game to transfer server, so you dont do it lightly because of minor problems.

Wow, the initial storm of players when games/servers are new has always been my absolute favourite part of playing MMORPG's |

I got an idea for channels. Why not have "a ton" (yes 2000 pounds worth of channels /sarcasm/) But only have them open up when the previous channels get filled to, say, 70-80%. This way the channel will have to be populated before an empty one opens.

Yeah, the nice point of the game where everyone is excited to finally be playing the game and are quite vocal and joyous. Then after a while speaking out loud become almost frowned upon, people get whiny and frustrated with the game, and cliques/elitists develop.

That sounds so much like the history of the human race in the past 4000 years, it's not even funny. Stupid science enlightening everyone and ruining the happy mood. /semi-sarcasm

True, MMO are just like real life, cause they are populated by real persons... Some are the light and other the darkness...

It brings a smile to face just thinking about the initial beta/prelude days of L2. Talking Island (human starter area) zerged with hundreds of lvl 1-20's. Running to the elven ruins and seeing a red name...oh no...run away...then you run into other people and end up with a train of 15 people chasing after this guy with a red name in hopes you'll all kill him and get his gear. Or going in the Elven Ruins (kind of like an instance, except everybody is in the same one...its a different loading zone. Hearing "TRAIN!!!!!" then looking out in the hallway and seeing some guy run away with 20 mobs on him. 30 different people fighting for mobs over the Sword of Solidarity quest, fighting and flagging on each other when someone tries to steal a mob. Going back to the village to see 20 more people at the main gate, fighting each other and running back in the town when low on HP, trying to get people to PK and drop gear.
Some of the most fun I've ever had in a mmo...but yeah in a faction based game sometimes the start can suck, because of chat (the barrens) and nothing you can do against your own faction |

Not sure what system ncsoft is using for guildwars but its deffo a good 1 imo. So i guess they should just stick with that even tho its a completely different game.
