I played 4 DE in L2 and I was happy with my gear and what it covered. I laughed about it. But than again I liked playing a Drow in DnD and they too wore mostly nothing.
As long as the armor fits the char nature/story line i'll be okay with it. WoW armor i think some times doesn't work. Example Troll, Orc armor should not have shinny look it should be darker dirty. __________________ KISSSSSSSSSS LUV Sot |

Id like aion to have the armors close to gw.
Im a guy and i have a female warrior on gw. She has all elite sets . U can bascially choose which looks u want since all armors offer the same profection and stats. and not all armor uncovers the bodyparts so wwide range of looks on armor will make every1 happy. __________________ ![]() We Are A Product Of Our Environment

This post makes perfect sense... I am sorry but if i WHERE female and they handed me something resembling a hooter's outfit and told me to go attack that MASSIVE monster with pointy teeth, i would have to tell them to kiss my.....
On a realistic scale, the female armor is completely useless, it exposes the arms, torso, neck, thighs.... and sometimes, butt ox... Leaving vital points like that open on the body is a STUPID idea, and add to an unrealistic feel to the game. ...... but if we where going for realistic, most of the armor in the game is 99% improbable. ....EQ2 had realistic armor, it was janky and bland... so on one hand its impractical but on the other is aesthetically pleasing. Either or, Aion's Armor Customization will fix that problem for ya. Sex sells, Especially in MMO's it appears.... like, why do all Female models have to put Pamela Anderson to shame in the chest area.... much like a tootsie pop.... the world.... may never know.... later. I personally use female characters in most games because my wife prefers it. Seriously. I used to play male characters before she moved in with me, but after having her make fun of the males enough I completely switched to female characters around the time of Guild Wars being released. I actually mentioned trying to make a 'me' character in Aion with their customization and she said I should stick to female toons since the male ones look too feminine. I think she's just trying to get me to have a female sorcerer so that she can see all the pretty dresses... she does keep hinting I should go Elyos too (she saw the dancing armor demo video). __________________

Unfortunatley, like everything else in this world, sex sells. I do like the fact that Guild Wars does have it's share of less skimpy armours, but again, the majority does expose the female characters a lot (elementalists, for example).
The majority of gamers are men, so I can see how designing revealing 'armour' for female characters would sell the game a little better. I know tons of guys who create female characters just because 'they're hot'. I don't think we're ever going to get away from having half-naked characters in MMO's, though the choice to have something a little more modest and realistic would be nice as well. As long as my character's goods aren't falling out of her outfit, I'm good. |

I think if its any game that will have the proper solution for this its Aion, because of the awsome armour customization idea that it has. I do agree with lack of armour as the level of the armour grows is kinda stupid, but i'm not worried about it at all for Aion
![]() Wonder if we could suggest they implement the reverse armour rule for guys instead XD |

But in all seriousness, if you feel it is embarrassing, that's fine. That's valid enough. If you're saying it's not realistic and it breaks immersion, that's... significantly less valid. I mean if you have holes in your armor, okay, but a lot of you also don't seem to understand how armor works. Just having metal plates all over your body isn't enough. You need to consider composition, layering, angle of incidence, etc. For example if somebody stabs your armor point first at a 90 degree angle of incidence, then the chance of penetration is greatly increased as opposed to a 30 degree angle of incidence ( will deflect ). This is actually why weapons like short, but viciously sharp and offensive long daggers like cinqueadas even found a place in medieval battlefields. You can't just design your armors to look nice. You need to have these funny ugly little plates to protect your armpits and other joints. And you want curves to increase likelihood of deflection due to poor incoming incidence. What about weight. Sure you can have a full suit of plate mail, but if you do, then it's only fair you take a -40% movement speed debuff because that's going to weigh a good couple hundred of pounds. And what about squishies in their cloth? What's the possible argument that their cloth full of holes does not offer enough realistic protection? Now if what you're talking about is respect and the fact that you believe wearing skimpy armor encourages people to disrespect you, well, this is what I believe to be the root of the problem. And my response to this is I'll afford you as much respect as you, the individual, have earned, regardless of gender. I know the differences between a game and real life and despite all this talk of immersion, in the back of my head, I am aware of this. If you're something I would wipe off my shoe, then that's the amount of respect you'll get. __________________ I am principled man, one who cannot in good conscious, support theft. A fit man could run, jump and even swim in full plate made of tempered steel. Obviously less mobile than someone wearing regular clothes but not nearly as much as you'd think. Last edited by Frein; 05-01-2008 at 11:19 AM.. |

movement speed reduction does make it more relistic, but lets just say the ones that DO use it are strong enough to match the speed of people who don't? other wise gladiators and etc will be at a pretty large disadvantage, since they're already being kited like crazy. |

I read the same wikipedia article right now to verify what you said. The article says well made tempered steel ( a late development ). It's safe to assume, therefore, that standard issue, is cruder and weighs more. It appears, armour, on average, weighed 60ish pounds ( short of hundreds, but still a lot ). Also, modern armour, the standard issue ballistic vest, is very light. Far lighter than 60lbs. More like... 7-10lbs. What makes it heavy is that to increase the amount of protection offered as to be effective against rifle rounds, you need to insert heavy ceramic plates that weigh like 9lbs each. Stick in two or three and you're at 30lbs. So for a fair comparison, you'd have to compare it to the heaviest plate armour which comes in at 80+ lbs. __________________ I am principled man, one who cannot in good conscious, support theft.
