Playing Your Own Gender

I saw this topic had been brought up somewhere else - but then closed because it got a little to out of hand - so I'd thought I'd bring it up again. Basically, if your a male - do you always play a male - or venture into the realm of feminicity. Vice versa for the girls. I've always found this really interesting.

I personally always play a female character because I am a female in real life. The only time I'm on a male character is if its my brothers - or if I'm making a warrior/tanking class like in Guild Wars. So... just leave me your thoughts. I personally have no problem with males playing females/ or females playing males - just as long as they don't try to pass themselves off as a girl in real life. (or a male if their a girl)

On most of my characters, I've been male, but sometimes I play a female because I like the way their animations look.

OMG!!!1 I did find the old post - thats why I brought this up. IF people are mature their shouldn't be any problems... Like when somebody says "i'll kill you" and then the person responds with "not with those gay sausage fingers" - DIRECT QUOTE

Earlier this week i saw the word "abhor" the very first time, and now an other one: "commence"! THANKS! My english knowledge is gettin better and better, yaay!

Dunno why were these unique words. O.o

I always play female. I'm not sure why really, but I just always hate playing male characters... even in console games.
It's really rare to find a girl who chooses to play a male character in an MMO, so I guess I'm not the only one. But I have no problem with anybody who chooses to go beyond their RL gender.

I haven't read the old thread, but I don't see how this topic could get as out of hand as y'all say. I mean, I guess if people were being called gay or something someone could take offense, but I think people should just be mature about it all.

I think it's unfair to jump down Kaey's throat like that though. I mean, I doubt he/she wants this thread to be like the last one. =P

In my opinion its all about looks/animations I mainly played male tauren(cow) druid for 3y at wow but also had an undead female warlock I opend female because male was looking realy lame back then with warlock sets,

I did meet male ppl saying they would only open female chars at mmo's just because they prefer staring at female arz instead of male one(tho they do have a point its a better view for you) but if you ask me this isnt important because Im not playing mmos just to stare at some arz o_O

This topic WONT go nuts/rude unless you make it

LOL - I thought I recognized you. And yeah - I've found very few girls who do play outside their gender too, but on time one decided to pretend to be a boy and ask me out until I found out from her friend that she was really a girl :S
