Combo Attacks. Divine Power (DP) Gauge.
Well, it's been confirmed.
{Experience dynamic, action-packed combat through combination attacks – such as knocking your enemy away from you and then shooting arrows from a distance, or stabbing an enemy after knocking it to the ground. If you are surrounded by many enemies, execute the ultimate attack by unleashing your DP(Divine Power) gauge. } Taken from here What do you think about it? |

I knew about Combo's it was written in the mmorpg description of the game.
The Divine power gauge is interesting it's like an "all or nothing" move or something similar. They say divine lots of times and I wonder if it's named for both Factions it's still early for that kind of question but Divine doesn't sound Fallen to me. |

Divine can relate to anything related to a god or of a higher power.
Regardless, I would have to experience this myself to see if I like it or not. It has been done in games before. This makes me curious, though, is there a god in Aion? What religions are practiced? From whose graces have the Fallen... "fallen" from? I think I need to read the storyline. |

Dude, you're reading into it too much. It's like the adrenaline bar in any game. Pick one. I'll pick Unreal Tournament 2004. Charge up your adrenaline to 100, then press a key combo and unleash your fury in one of many ways. In Aion, this "superattack" is probably limited to one type. I hope it's trainable/upgradeable though.
Anyhow, as for gods in Aion, there are a few. They are... Global Mods. |

These "special moves" will probly end up being your most powerful skill but not without a catch, if youve played as a Gladiator in L2 youll probly remember Triple Sonic Slash, a move that had to be charged before using, later in the game, as your Focus Sonic skill incresed you could charge the power up to like seven, and that incresed the damage of the attack as well. The thing is, the more you powered it up the less often you could use it. So Im just hoping that these final moves wont be so.....circumstancial. Itd be nice to be able to pull it off on more than just bosses

Interesting very interesting
I have to agree with Mark and Respeed, that there will be a catch with it, as it could work like adrenaline or require charging, or maybe both? |

I sound like a broken record, but:
In Zera, in addition to mp and hp there was another gauge bar called 'Rage'. You gained rage by hitting mobs (max 100). Rage was needed to cast 'knockdown' skills (IK - instant, CK - required casting) at certain costs (30 or 60, so you couldn't really use them every other hit). You gained 2 rage per hit, so melee attacks gained rage faster than ranged attacks. Thus warriors and melee rangers never had problems with rage. Wizards and bow rangers did, but if you had the right skill card (egopanel) you could x5 the rage you gained per hit. This was actually a pretty bad idea, pushed warriors to the bottom of the PVP food chain xD; To me Aion's Divine Power gauge sounds like it might operate along the same principles. |

Most rpgs have the gauge, same with most hack and slash games.Devil may cry, kingdom hearts, ff and the list could go on and on, they all have similar things. You could almost compare it too some of the abilities in WoW with massive cooldowns, just better.

Really like what I've seen of this combat system, actionpacked and stylish ^^

Quote:
That's almost like WoW and the Warrior class which also had a rage bar(also 100). Once you had enough rage you could perform many actions certain actions required more rage but there was a skill sacrifice hp for rage so it was easy to gain a high amount. |

Oh blessed and holy God, Lord of all creation and master of all things past, present, and still to come, please give us skillchains or concurrences.
That aside, this DP thing could be a real innovation, and I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much. I know I tend to toot FF's horn a lot, but anything that uses skills to let characters complement each other is good in my book. Even EQII had a similar system with its little wheel of bells and whistles. WOW did not, and for the life of me I can't figure out why. I know PVP complicates it a little bit, but still, if there's any grouping at all, I can find no reason not to let that kind of thing in. DP would seem to be the natural place for it in Aion, but if not, they could easily throw it in somewhere else, so I have to plug the idea. Skillchains were fun; if you haven't played FFXI, it's similar to the Quickening Concurrences in FFXII. ... if you've played neither, it's somewhat similar to duel-techs in CC, although that gets a little further away. Other than those I can't think of any other comparisons. Just give me something to do in the fight with the other people in my group. Good times. __________________ Peace and safety. |
