Honestly many of my gaming friends have said the same thing. But once they dug a little deeper they, like so many of us, have seen what Aion can and will be and that is not 'Lineage 3'. There may be a hint of similarity in graphical approach regarding armor and character models but even that is not anywhere close enough to support an opinion that Aion is like any other game on the market.

How much ?

edit : Wait... you like neither L2, WoW, LotRo nor AoC (still i understand for the last one)... So, well, what do you like ? CoH ? GW ? SWG ?

Anyway, Shilenne said :

Yes I did play WoW before. Unfortunately I'm still playing it now, cause Aion isn't out T_T So hard to actually want to do anything on WoW after AION CBT2 lol.

No, the two game isn't similar. It's really hard to say that because WoW also took concepts and lessons learned from other games then polished it to make it look good. At first everyone will think "oh this is like WoW", but it's not. I actually never found it to be similar to WoW, so that's why to me it's all new and stuff and I won't get bored of it easily. I love exploring new games and new style and to play a game that I've played for years I'd rather shoot myself >.>

Ya sorry if we came off a bit rude, its just due to the nature of most players just joining they seem to always think that Aion is a grinder. Its just one of those questions that even though you only asked it once, we have heard it 289752375 times before

well it is kind of a lineage 3 in that it's NCsoft's next big mmo, and has many spiritual inheritances from the Lineage series including a similar style of art and visuals. I mean, I do get feeling that NCsoft have been paying attention to the things that have happened in the time between Lineage 2 and now so that to apply the lessons learned in that period to the next game (Aion) we have what is a Lineage 2 that has evolved.

Perhaps another way of putting this is that if NCsoft had decided to create Lineage 3 instead of Aion, would it have been all that much different? I think not

I dont mind when i hear "Zomg aion is aother ignorant korean grindfest" or w/e. What gets me, is when asshats like that make posts and then people read it and give up on aion right then and there. I have alot of friends who i told to look into Aion, and half of them were like Ya i read it was a grindfest, **** it.

I think I read somewhere that there would be an actual Lineage 3, don't have a link but there you go. :P

Edit:
Found this; NCsoft representative Kim said, “It is true, I was shocked when we had to stop the development of Lineage 3 in May; However, we are going to start all over on January, 2008. We are going to put all of our online gaming technology we’ve earned through the past ten years into this project.” He then stated, they will NOT be using the Unreal 3 Engine, but creating their own.

The Lineage 3 Project will begin next year January 1st, and will be announced to the public in 2011.

No offense to those of you defending the game like it's your partner, but they have said you can only quest up to a certain level.

After that its grind grind grind, and we all know it takes more experience to gain a level, the higher you go.

So i imagine its grind for 5 months to get the final 4-5 levels anyway.

Not worried, will do it anyway.

Basically, what we want is to satisfy players from both Lineage and World of Warcraft. We plan to make it possible for players to get to the max level by simply doing quests without having to grind at all, and vice versa for those who prefer killing mobs instead of questing.

Hardcore players might be able to reach top level in 1 month, for the casual player it might take around 3 months
Ken Choi, Senior designer

Some facts:

People reached level 34 (level cap during CBT2) within the first 15 days, with limited game times.
Back in CBT1, there were already over 200 quests for the initial zones, that means around 10 more per zone than in WoW.

You're wrong, the all leveling is based on quests. There were just lacks of quests and zones in CBT2, as the main concern of the devs was to test the rifts.

As they said it though, Aion isn't about quests... it's about PvPvE. Wich means that indeed quests are here to make you level up, but after that comes the real game.

Is the game a grind? According to the tester's reviews, yes it is thus far.

The combat will be pretty much be point and click with some random key tapping. But what mmo isn't.

Oh, and there will actually be an L3, so to answer the topic, no it is not.

Only from level ~30, and devs already stated why, they were missing a pair of zones during CBT2.
