The reason why the offensive and defensive rating doesn't count in AoC is because the game is FFA pvp everywhere. So the game is basically a giant gankfest and in order to not give the higher level players too much of an advantage and lower level too much of a handicap, this system is put in place so that the difference between a high or low level is not too big. It is not unheard of that people had killed players 10 levels or so above themselves (which is impossible if the ratings are to be taken into account, as the character will be grey and hence do like no damage and suffer a very very high damage penalty, as is the case with pve mobs). It is one way of promoting skill over time. Last edited by Heinel; 07-16-2008 at 06:52 AM.. |

i honestly like the fact that as you get higher lvl you get harder to kill... im not sure i would be satisfied as much if im a lower lvl and i kill a higher lvl just because they were nerfed on the pvp side of things... to me its not skill its just squaring things up so ppl dont cry to much.. i enjoy the thrill of hunting and getting the chance to go up againt a hard player not knowing if im going to win, and when the higher player screws up and you get that lucky shot off that devastates him or you hold out enough for reinforcements and he dies it makes it much more rewarding to me. of course there is the chance im gonna die too, but thats what makes being out in the world not knowing whats around each corner so exciting. as for the interview im usually an advocate for not making it to hard.. mostly for like having to group 24/7 cause im a casual player, and im usually roaming around with my husband and no ones else. however, i do believe in stuff you need to group for especially special stuff that grants you access to places such as the abyss portals and such. i just found the whole artical to be a big whine fest... if they did everything that kid said the game would be easier then wow... __________________ ![]() made by Yousei

Introducing level scaled statistic will make that impossible, as pointed out in my last post. If you're grey to your target, you'll at most do like 5 damage and take at least double damage from them. Regardless of what skill you have you will die instantly. Last edited by Heinel; 07-16-2008 at 08:31 PM.. |

its not really all that impossible seeing as ive done it in wow and that is a very lvl and gear oriented game... granted a lvl 1 cannot kill a lvl 80 but then i believe thats the way it should be. on the other hand when the game lets you out of the "protected area" you should be able to stand your own to either run and live another day or stay and fight. especially with the flight system you never know if your opponent has used his wings and is still on cool down so it is possible to run by flying away as well. btw: not trying to say your wrong or anything just giving an opinion : ) __________________ ![]() made by Yousei

Lawl @ pvp in abyss if ppl who just get there can kill someone who has been at max lvl for a while. That's why i will never play AoC. It just doesn't make sense for someone 10 lvls lower to kill you if you have 50%+ HP. But just my OP.
Anyway for the Q&A, yes he's probably a greenhorn to all the beta and MMO's but there were a couple of good Q's and i am getting ever so excited for release. Glad that crafting won't be pointless after some point like in other said games. __________________ "I believe in order to understand, but you must understand in order to believe." ~Ansem, Archbishop of canterbury 12C CE. Thing is, if you are really doing some hardcore busy pvp, you won't exactly be fighting 1v1 all the time, if at all. On the other hand, if you are pveing and a higher level comes down to have some fun with you, it's a different matter. Safety in numbers somewhat applies, don't forget.
Not that you'll be %100 safe though. |

That was by far the worst interview ever, all that guy did was whine about his experiance within Aion.... when 99% of us here at Source would be very happy to play Aion As is and not complain one bit... moron

The better approach to this IMO would be to at least give enough time for people to CC the ganker before they die, and that should be an option regardless of level. Last edited by Heinel; 07-17-2008 at 07:26 PM.. |

its unfortunate that they get ganked like that but sad to say there are always *** holes who like to play dirty. and as for the assassin thing... well i guess since i grew up with wow i am just accustomed to the fact that if i come across an assassin i am dead, well sometimes. you just have to be prepared for what ever could happen while your out imo. some times you can catch the pesky sneeker by surprise to by doing something unexpected : ) its just all in how you play. __________________ ![]() made by Yousei
