Your main problem is changing the name of ''beta testing''. Your preview event means the same thing as a beta testing. If you choose people to play and ''gather their feedback on game and major issues'' it's a closed beta. If you make a stress test and anyone can join, it's an open beta or a stress test. A preview event would be those game convention or press demo etc.... Why did Ncsoft ''changed'' the name of beta testing??

I don't why it cannot be considered as beta. In my opinion, making people play and gathering their feedback is a beta test. I could imagine why they called it that way in the point of view of the ''objective'' thing in a matter to let the player play as a preview but again, a preview doesn't have gathering feedback on major issues as objective.

Beta tests are for finding bugs, gameplay is something a designer decides. Gameplay isn't something the players get to dictate to the designers through beta tests. Players are supposed to help find bugs in beta tests, not tell the designers what they don't like. If the designers listened to the players complain about gameplay, they'll end up with an abomination. People don't know what they want.

so why is it exactly it was decided to kill the US/EU betas that we were promised months ago?

and ok so no betas were having previews now ok cool, but why is it that they are going to take place in Q1 of next year (same as the release) instead of Q4 of this year like we were being told until i guess a couple of days ago?

We are gonna be so far behind the Korean players now its not gonna even be funny...

I think that by the time the game launches over here, it will be pretty much tested as far as it can go. They must be focusing on the localization and translation, which takes FOREVER.

Many mmos became unplayable because instead of listening to players feedback and suggestion, they did whatever they wanted without having much idea, screwing things more and more while still ignoring players.

Or do like Blizzard and listen to the endless lamentations of the vocal minority and destroy what is meant to be in an MMO... I'd like to point that people cried when the male blood elves where too 'femmy' so they beefed them up to make them happy, even though it would have made more sense for a magic oriented race to be slender and not look like wrestlers?

It's good to listen to player feedback, but it also good to maintain your own vision and not cave to people's every whim. A balance is always better imo.

I'm not sure they ever promised any betas. NCsoft might have, but I doubt it. Check the devTracker.

As for being behind Korea: we'll only be a few months, maybe. But that's normal. Par for the course.

Actually blizzard destroyed wow by themselves with the whole "casual" and esport crap (nobody asked for that), forums are full of complaints and good suggestions, but they don't care as long as they can make money off low IQ population.

Or stuff like unfixed bugs and useless skills/specs since BETAS, even these complaints are still ignored.

Any mmo devs sure should have a solid idea of what they want their game to be (not changing it completely and make people leave because they felt like doing it (WoW)), but constructive player feedback with valid points never should be overlooked or ignored.

Yay for balance, and OPEN betas.

i remember some posts here on the source of them saying that we WOULD Have CB AND OB in US/EU.... ive been hanging onto posts like that for months.

I mean it is what it is i guess ive accepted it but god i was starting to feel like i could taste aion and now.... it was basically yanked away like a 20 dollar bill on a fishing line in front of a hobo near a liquor store.
