It's not that the L2 gamers are paranoid, far from it. We have first hand knowledge of game guard flagging several times as a virus. Talk about fun having to reinstall your game or your current anti-virus software. Yea, sign me up.

Game guard prevents bots? L2 gamers find this hilarious. This one brings tears to my eyes!
On the bright side, I do hope Ncsoft hears the shouts and moans of its future subscription base. Time will only tell.

People need to play the game when it comes out to make any proper case. Even if it had a beta, it's a beta after all; it's there to test the game since it's in the last few months of production. Here is my predictions given NCsofts History.

Korea = Huge success + Superb customer support + Events and GM Interaction!

EU = Huge success + Superb customer support (as been by the EU team here just by them even POSTING on fan forums)

NA = Success first year -- Second year failure due to lack of NA Austin customer support (l2 busted your balls on rep here NA) and outsourcing low tier GM's to New Delhi, India while the HGM sits on his *** eating bagels all day with the worthless NA CM's (you wonder why they go through CMs like candy). Not to mention Korea doesn't care about NA Market. It was even posted in a interview a few years back.

All in all, Austin Texas NA team is a failure and props to the EU team for getting involved with the community so much.

Yeah but that doesn't mean that they can't advertise the game and at the same time polish it and sick with Q1 release date.

Age of Conan is just a failure, and belive be it wasn't because of the hype.

And I skipped over 7 pages but...

If Warhammer Online is a smashing success(and I havnt checked up on them in months so I have no clue what they doing atm) then they will steal many potential Aion players and some aion players will stick with it instead of Aion...Also it may steal Aion's hype and Aion just may not get the spotlight so it may fail due to Warhammer

thats if its a major success though...

and lack of customer support will be a big one once people start finding problems with the game

Making hype doesnt equal lying to your costumers and deceiving them And yes, they should do look at AoC, cause the 'success' the game had during launch was mostly due to hype.

As I mentioned earlier... w0w created a lot of hype in some aspects also... need I say again, hero classes and siege weapons... 4 years later they finally deliver. GG.

But from what I can see visually, this game is everything I want... NC Soft seems to be releasing some epic games... Blade and Soul being another epic game from them, I may actually be paying to play 2 mmo's...

I totally agree, all the people that have played Lineage II know how things can turn bad for a great game just because of customer support(or the lack of such) When you complain about L2 players worrying here, then that is understandable, as we would not like to see another good game "fail" because of such stupid reasons. Aion is a great game all we can hope for is NCsoft NA/EU doing a good job as well and Aion will do quite the opposite of failing =)
About the GG issues, right now I'm using NOD32 and L2.exe as well as a temporary file created everytime i launch Lineage2 are being quarantined and deleted. Clearly Gameguard has issues and using Themida to protect Lineage2 from being reverse engineered doesn't improve anything, but it is still playable. If gameguard wasn't used as just a dummy against bots/cheaters but actually help, it would at least justify its existence, otherwise they should save the licensing fees and remove it.

Warhammer is a good game and it will be a lot of fun to play, but it will take a certain kind of person to continue to play it after Aion has been released. The hardcore warhammer fantasy people probably dont have much interest in Aion anyway regardless of how good of a game it is simply because the setting and style doesnt interest them.
