Why if it will fail? Hmm... Maybe for its strong PvP focus? A lot of people I know either hate pvp or are bad at it, so that's why they said "NO" the moment they were done reading up on it. But I don't think that's enough to make it "fail".
Maybe popularity from other new games and/or game expansions might? |

Stupid decisions by NCSoft
Lack of content Lack of NCSoft EU/NA influence, as well as the Korean branch's lack of care for EU/NA These are the largest possibilities, but I don't think Aion will fail... Or at least I hope it doesn't. |

More than anything else, if their customer service is bad and they combine that with GM's that never help with in game problems, the game will fail. We've all seen what looks like a good game; the potential is there to rock everyone's socks. What hasn't been tested and remains unknown is the ability of the support staff. Honestly I hope that this game does not turn into another 5 million player behemoth, because if it does you can forget about ever seeing a GM in game, you can forget about cool GM events, and you can forget about getting help with that lost item.

NCsoft games always turn out to be sleeper hits. Meaning they are successful, but it's not really advertised much, and nobody really talks about it.
But a few reasons why I can see Aion possibly not living up to it's potential over here is 1) Lack of advertising/marketing/hype over here. 2) Lack of content 3) Poor Localization & Translation. 4) Little Incentive to play past the level cap. These are key elements that can easily bring down a potentially successful title in my opinion. Maybe Ayase or someone can forward this thread to NCsoft and bring concerns to their attention ![]() Really though, I see this game doing well as long as enough people know about it, and NCsoft really makes the effort for it to be a hit. Content is the thing I'm worried about too. You can have all the questing / grinding / PVP / PVPVE choices in the world but, if its all repeatable and similar, eventually people get bored.
Look at CoH / CoV. GREAT customization and char development. You could group grind, do quests, raids, pvp, etc. All of the levels and enemies were variations on the same template: Go in this location. Kill these groups of bad guys. Kill the one cookie cutter boss. Wander around until the mission complete flag comes up. Hit exit. Rinse and repeat. The only changes were the skins and the quest descriptions. The only other dread I have is lack of expansion. Content at launch is key but, so is expansion of content in fun / timely installments. |

Well if theyre actually planning on an early 09 release, and theres absolutely zero advertising right now, guess whats going to happen?
Sure people who play a lot of mmos know about this game but I thought the point of Aion was to pull people who dont normally play mmos or at least arent as hardcore as others. How are these people supposed to find out about the game if no one is selling it to them? Aion looks good but it doesnt sell itself. |
