PvPvE: Dynamic boss encounters
After thinking about party size for raids in this thread: http://www.aionsource.com/forum/gene...ou-prefer.html I started thinking about the type of encounters that would be interesting. People keep saying Aion is about PvPvE, but from most of the input it sounds a lot like any open world PvP game. I think PvPvE should mean Raid vs. Raid vs. Boss. There are so many cool things that could be done with this situation my headisgonnaesplode. Instead of making the boss' aggro just a hate list, aggro could be decided through the actions of the raid.
Example: Two pedestals are located at opposite sides of the boss' room. The first player to step onto a pedestal will gain boss aggro until he moves from the pedestal or dies. The first player to step onto the other pedestal is second on the hate list, and gains aggro if it is lost at #1. The raid who wins the kill is that who's tank (or whatever is actually left) is targeted by the boss on death: the last to have aggro. Or: The encounter could be like a giant game of "release". There are two cells on either side of the boss room. The boss has a normal hate list, maybe some special abilities, it doesn't matter. When players die after the event starts, raid #1's players go to a cell, and the players from raid #2 go to the opposite. While the battle wages, it is possible for players to spring their fallen raid members from the jail if they make it through the resistance. The kill goes to the raid with the most damage done. These are pretty basic ripoffs of fun real life games (king of the hill and release), but the possibilities are endless for this type of situation. |

personally i dont enjoy the idea.
i think a PVP battle before the Raid boss is ok but not during. it just wouldnt work in my opinion. Too much going on at 1 time. now Extra events during the Boss fight i agree with, but they should only be available for 1 raid group. |

Main reason why your idea would not work: it requires two separate raids to do. Most people have trouble getting one raid together let along have two and then face up against each other. Factor in the fact that the situation presented would probably be Elyos vs. Asmodian, how do you intend on getting opposite factions to face each other at the same time?
It's a fun idea, don't get wrong, but putting it together seems very unlikely. |

PvPvE means the Balaur act as a third faction that participates in server balancing events, not that you will encounter the enemy when PvEing...thats simply a PvP game.
I would hope that raids arent some type of minigame, IMO they should just design a system that would encourage conflicts during open world raids, and before Epic raids...for example the L2 style epic raid. Before a boss spawns, clans will camp the area outside the bosses "lair", people will PvP for control of that spot, once the raid boss Spawns, you can enter his lair, assuming you've finished the quest that allows you. Then there is PvP in the lair until the boss wakens (some are on timers, others have to be woken up by a player, and they dont like being woken up, so they do huge damage to whoever wakes them ). Once the boss is awake, nobody can re-enter the lair, not even the clan inside, so you'd better have pre-organized well, stocking up on consumables. |

Why people still don't understand that PvPvE is Asmo vs Elyos vs Balaur? :S
About bosses, I like L2 style too, but waiting for Baium for 8 hours was just insane. |

Uhh Cal I hope you're not saying another opposing race Legion won't attack you while you attempt to take down a Boss in the Abyss, because they will
That's going to be the most intricate and complicated part of endgame PvPvE content, is learning how to balance the Boss while being ready to defend a possible PK. |

L2 raids or nothing. Once you have played l2 for so long its hard to go back to a wow style type raid situation.
All Mmo's have been so dull after l2. My Hopes are that aion wull cure me of this. God i hope so. I have high high hopes. |

No, you can hardly ever do an open world raid boss (abyss) without getting ganked, unless you went there the instant the boss spawned with a perfect party or two and took it down in a few minutes....cause all clans log raid boss checkers at the spawn locations, bot parties do aswell on certain servers ...But it would be foolish to be getting attacked by the enemy during Epic raids, however there should still be pvp competition in order to get to those epic raids.Killing the actual raid in WoW is more fun (most of the time) than l2, but theres no reason they cant have a l2 style pvp in order to be able to kill the raid. |

and so are you, they bring out the ultimate PvE experience, and in L2 they brought out the ultimate PvP experience. PvP before an epic raid in L2 was far better than ganking, olympiad or even castle sieges, it was also the biggest gain/loss of any pvp.

I wonder if there would ever be cooperation to some degree between the Eylos and Asmodian.
Say the Draconic Carrier. I can see the two factions, focusing on it while it's still at more or less full strength, concentrating on staying alive, and trying to take the thing down. Then as the tide starts to turn, and it takes some damage, the two factions start focusing on one another to try ensure they get the kill and the rewards for doing so. |

Imagine this PvPvE scenario:
The leader of an Elyos clan gets a quest that will send him into the Asmodian territories to destroy a holy statue that empowers (more or less) the dark race. The leader needs like 20-30 maybe more online clan members to trigger this quest. Here comes the twist: you will be aided by an Elyos demigod/guradian/etc. that will appear like a boss for the Asmos... The Asmos can have some little help of their own as well.. let's say.. the guard of the statue... So here you go, a nice PvPvE scene, with cool raid bosses in the scene that could do lots of things like help you tank, heal or buff... (depending on other quests and offerings maybe?) And to make it more interesting.. if they manage to actually break the status.. the whole race can have some penalties for a couple of days, until the statue is "rebuilt"... |
