AION Community Consensus
The Netcurse letter got me thinking about the viewpoints of the AION community. It's hard to get a feel for what the community believes are the most pressing issues when people with an axe to grind hijack multiple threads to discuss the issue of vital importance to them. So I was hoping to put one thread together where people could vote on the issues that they think are most important.
So what do you think are the most pressing issues that NCSoft needs to address, and why? Edit: Thought I hit the check button for multiple choices, but apparently I didn't. Choose the one you think is the most urgent and just explain others in your reply. __________________

Kill everyone who QQs.
On a serious note, the 1 issue that bugs me is the Cry Engine crash that makes it impossible for me to siege.# Your poll is not good, Its not just fortress siege crashed or other crashes, some people crash in populated areas. __________________

BOTS
I used to defend NC Soft on this, as the spamming seemed to be getting under control. (thought it has started getting bad again...) but the Bots are TERRIBLE in Beluslan... impossible to even quest there right now... 30+ bots and I know they are bots because I /w to them before I kill steal and alas... no response. I then kill steal them and they just run straight to the next red dot on the map. Legions of Glads. These bots usually have names like Vvrx or something that is obviously not even a player name, thought lately I have been seeing them with real names. I've reported some of the same ones numerous times now and at lvl 30-34, you know these bots have been around for a very long time and probably reported numerous times. I have been a staunt supporter of Aion, but the lack of Customer Service on controlling this is dissapointing. All it would take is a GM on each server to start account banning, they could easily just wander zone to zone (starting areas) and easily /w the players that act like bots and do not respond to chat. OR just account ban people who have been reported as a botter 3+ times. BOTS and then spam to a lesser degree. Slight xp boost to grouping and high level quests would be nice, but not game breaking. (Also summoning stones for instance areas would also be a nice addition) Though I am a little concerned with how ganking might be for early level players in teh Abyss when everyone is 50... I am leery to say...but I think Game Guard was the lesser evil to the Bot problems. |

I voted PvE loot. Though my gripe is gear in general. I'm a 33 cleric wearing crafted 23 chain because its better than the crafted 28 and 33 chain. Not going to really get new gear till 38. HP>MP
My second concern is the UI, and most importantly the untiframes. PLEASE LET ME DRAG PARTS OF MY UI AROUND! I'd go with the bottom HUD type UI, except it puts my target at the TOP of the screen. Thats really silly. I think they are working on RMT chat spam, and will find fixes that work. |

Goodness I went to look for this and thought it'd gotten deleted til I looked at the stickies at the top.
I figured after a few responses I'd say why I voted what I did. I voted the fortress siege crashes, not because they are the thing that currently irritates me the most (that would be bots) but because I think that will be the most devastating if they don't fix it. If the gameplay is good enough, people will overlook bots. They won't appreciate having to overlook bots, and they will vocally complain. But they will accept it if the game is awesome enough to make up for the existence of bots (I'm not saying the game is good enough as is, just that bots don't kill the game by themselves). The same is true for any of the irritating quirks in the game (like the mail which only lets me send one stack at a time). If the rest of the game is good enough then we will nyerk and moan whenever it affects us but we won't stop paying our subscription fee. However, fortress raids are at the heart of why people play AION. Sure, you might have a few people who play for random ganking, crafting, or some other activity. But most people signed on to this PvPvE thing. Fortress raids embody that entire idea (fighting the opposite faction in order to fight a raid boss) and are one of the most iconic elements to the game. It's what you see in the game advertisements and what you want to do when you get into the Abyss. Now, do fortress raids live up to all the hype? I don't have a clue; AION crashes the minute more than a half dozen black wings appear on the horizon. Right now that's ok because I'm leveling and have something else to do (yay grinding!). But what happens when my toon hits 50? There's 6 mans, granted. And the crafting system is pretty cool. And I could level an alt. But a large part of what the game is all about is unavailable. I quit WoW because I realized what I did 80% of the time I was logged in was either leveling an alt or sitting around Dalaran chatting with people. I can't say I relish the thought of repeating that experience. I'm not writing this because I think NCSoft is lazy or greedy. I think they will get to the problem eventually. I just happen to think it ought to be a priority for them for the reasons listed above. __________________

ten The only real issue is crysystem.dll crashing for all 64bit OS users. Bots are easy to deal with through either PvP or friendly neighborhood Spiritmaster with fear (I prefer this method for the exp loss and the massive downtime after several kills since bots don't use the soul healer). Everything else is fluff. char |

Bots.
Though very entertaining to yank their mob close to other aggro and get them killed, they still irritate me to no end. I have personally reported three bots that run in a group together, each day for over a week now. They are still there and still running on bot programs. Now they are guilded with titles, but the programing of their farming is blatantly obvious. It is literally to the point where I think I will get banned for excesive reporting. But really, what's it take to get a bot banned? My 2nd concern will be the fortress seige crashes. Personally, I have not experience this happening, but given the numerous reports of the issue, I'd really like to see it adressed and resolved as soon as possible. Fortress seiges are a big part of the "end game" for Aion and if they are not stable for the majority of players, that aspect of the game will not have much participation creating a dead feeling which in turn pushes players away from the game. Short version recap: Bots, get them out of here! Fortress Seiges, get 'em fixed before too many get frustrated and give up. |

Even tho I voted that Bots was the biggest problem, I had no idea so may people were crashing during Fortress Raids. So I'd like to caveat my vote to say that while Bots seems to bother me the most, fixing a recurring crash issue is far more important.
Guess I'm glad you couldnt get the multiselect working. It made it more clear what peoples concerns were if you can only pick 1. |

The Fortress Raid crashing has been happening on my 32-bit Operating Systems as well, not just 64-bit Operating Systems. This is the biggest immediate threat to the community, bots being secondary. Thank you , so much, Brain for working on a poll like this. Netcurse is in no position at all to speak for all of us posting here.

For me the most troublesome issue is with my server's community. Though I was suspended for almost a week and couldn't tell what changed since last night when I got unbanned, last time I remembered is that the Elyos dominated (and still dominating since we have a green lower abyss now) the Asmodians, only because the Asmodians can't learn to pvp.
Other than that, the other issue would be bots. Spam and farmers are blegh! __________________ ![]() Ooo...you use colors...you are so cool...HURR `(̾●̮̮̃̾?̃̾)۶ |
