Well PvP is the focus, so a small respawn timer would be prime. If there was a long fortress timer that would in essence take away that element of game play until the timer diminished. I'm thinking a short timer around 12 or 24hrs. This wouldn't hurt mechanics too much and would keep people waiting in suspense. If it was a few days or a week that would just seem too long (Archlord is on some crazy timer like that I believe).
Just another thought however. Longer durations could mean larger scale attacks. Legions could plan their attacks better and with more allies. __________________ ![]() Let the rain fall...embrace the darkness...let the blood flow... ____________________________________________ Future member of the AAA (Aion Addicts Anonymous)! |

I can definitely see your point about long timers hurting the game mechanics.
However, while everyone waits for the long spawn timer to cool down on, say, an extremely powerful fortress(like the one in the dead center island, all by itself), they can be fighting over/taking over the castles with lower spawn times for their guardian NM's. Some Legions may prefer to wait and take over that one powerful fortress, and some legions may want to take over a lot of the smaller, less powerful fortresses. It just gives a variety, I guess. |

I play a text based war game where you can be attacked all the time up until a specific point but you can have spells cast on you as well as be attacked while you are offline. When you go to war with another guild is the best because not only do you have to watch your own back while playing but there are people we call "Snipers" because their job is to stay awake and attempt to kill you if they see you making any moves online. The war guild I'm in has players from all over the country and we stay active in IRC as much as possible. If worse comes to worse with Aion I plan to give my phone number out to anyone in my Legion in order to contact me any time we get randomly seiged. I also plan to spend most of my game time sitting in our legions fortress' so that it's protected.
So yeah even if I'm working and get a random call/text that we are being attacked I can get online and protect our fortress. Any legion that want's to hold a fortress for 24/7 needs to have communication outside of game/vent. Which is what my legion hopefully plans to achieve. Holding a fortress for 24/7 is the funnest way to play IMO. Especially if you get constant attacks and reasons to protect it from people. Wasting an hour daily to take it back IMO is a waste. If your guild can't take our fort when we are fully staffed you don't deserve to have it. |

Well I may be wrong but doesn't the US cover a number of timezones? The EU certainly does, it's just going to be something you have to deal with. It really isn't much a problem. If it is possible to do it, and the europeans nick your fortress while you sleep then just nick it back later when we are sleeping.

Warhammer had quite the same problem. 6 keeps in tier 4 so if one was defended they would go PvE a keep. With, what I'm gathering, one fortress to fight over per server things will be lively. If the player base is very active you'll see legions forming alliances to do the fort at 4 in the morning only to have spy leak the info and they will be crushed. Funny how the only game that likes and even somewhat encourages that behavior is EVE.
