Still to be fixed as of 10/22/09

These are things I feel need to be fixed or I would say that most likely this game will not make it another 6months. I hate to say that as I really love this game and I try to ignore a lot of this stuff but after so long it does start to wear on me and others. I put this on the official website forums but seeing as more people seem to hang out here than there and actually reply and give their own ideas to these posts I thought it was a good idea to copy it here.

1. Bots needs to be banned and kept banned permanently. They are not following the ToS so I don't care how much they whine, they shouldn't get their accts back just so they can do it again and again.

2. Chat channels need to be monitored. There are so many offensive things said that if I had kids they would be banned from playing this game even with the filter on. No one wants to get on and find out about who is taking what drugs to enjoy this game. Definitely don't want to hear about how some guy screwed his girlfriend hard the night before.

3. Channels need to be fixed so that general is GLOBAL. Everyone who talks in LFG admits they do that because they want to be able to bother/annoy everyone in game and feel important more than just talking in the general channel that is currently only regional. Why any game still only makes a channel that is needed for stuff other than every day BS as the global channel and not make the BS channel global needs to wake up and smell the coffee as everyone prefers to talk across the entire game and not just regional areas especially when it is talk about anything that is not important. By changing general to global it will allow those of us who really don't want to hear the BS be able to turn it off and still use the channels that are worth our time (trade and LFG).

4. Expand the delay of chat in LFG to 2 mins instead of 30secs. There is no need to have to post something every 30secs because then basically it becomes spam. Do the same thing for trade.

5. 24/7 GMs are needed...and they are needed NOW not soon. The names of both people and legions in this game have become very offensive. I know for a fact on Meslaemeta there is a character named arshole and he's not a level 10 or below. If I remember right the character is over level 15. I myself turn off all names of friendly pc's in game but I still have to see those names in chat and I shouldn't have to see that or know that some kid would see that.

6. Reporting system in general needs to be fixed. Spammers are finding their way around your spamming program every day and they are easy enough to put on block, however they know that they can sit in Sanctum or Pandemonium and make a private store and advertise their website all they want because we have no way to report them there. I would gladly use /autoreporthunting but guess what, that doesn't work in the cities.

7. Allow the broker to have more than 10 items. I would suggest the idea someone else made on these forums, which was to allow for a queue of items that would added as items are sold in the original 10 items that is allowed.

8. Allow for more UI customization. Read some of what each class is looking for to allow changes to help those classes out. I have read several forums from healers who really are having issues trying to heal groups/alliances with the current set up. If I understand correctly they can't even heal someone who is not in their actual group right now. Not sure if that is true or not as I haven't played my healer yet.

As I said at the beginning I really enjoy this game and I can see it being great and growing into more and more but these are things that everyone is complaining about a lot. I am willing to give it another month or 2 but I will say if I definitely don't see some better in game monitoring soon I will be cancelling my subscription.

I agree with the above. The bots are kinda working in my favor as of late, lol, because they are wiping out a huge chunk of aggro in places I need to traipse through.

The chat issue is 100% spot on however. Seriously, finding a group in itself should give XP or some kind of title, because your request gets buried by about 20 people who all hit enter at the same time screaming about bots.

UI customization would be cool, but with key binds being as they are, I don't find it too horrible. I know there are people who are anti-addon, but some aren't too bad. I liked WAR's system. It was nice to just be able to drag n' drop elements here and there. That was nice.

I can only speak for what I have experienced thus far. I haven't had a problem with instability as of yet...then again, I am only level 17 as of late. The chat though, seriously needs some work. I have like 6 group quests that I am trying to find people for, and like I said earlier, as soon as I go to lfg to ask there are tons of other people talking about nonsense.

I don't know if I am just lucky though, because I am running damn near max settings and very rarely get a hiccup anywhere. Fingers crossed, knock on wood, etc..

The client instability does need to be fixed, but this other stuff needs to have a look as well

I have yet to see any instability on my end and I was in one of the huge battles when I was on marchutan where about 90 asmos came through. Never once did I lag or get disconnected and I was able to take out a few of the asmos in the process.

Not saying that this may definitely be a problem and shouldn't be added, but since it wasn't a problem I have encountered myself I didn't put. You feel it needs to be added, then state so. There is no need to get angry at me for not putting down your concern when it isn't a concern I see.

I think that, in all honesty, a thread stating that everything that needs to be fixed still needs to be fixed when there's been no attempt at fixing it yet is somewhat redundant.

If you look under Sound Options you will see a drop down for UI Theme or something like that. Why its in sound options IDK but that at least shows that there is a potential for UI Mods.

And yes, i dont even bother with the sieges because that gets really freaking irritating. I can turn the chat channels off, use my legion for LFG, block people i dont want to hear from (or spam), get by with only 10 broker items and can deal with botters because most arent in the abyss...

...But the instability in sieges??? OMFGOMFGOMFGOMFG *PUNCH SCREEN* *PUNCH SELF IN LEG* *UNPLUG COMPUTER* *SMOKE 5 CIGARETTES IN A ROW* *ATTEMPT LATER*

Fix that first IMO

Welcome to more than a year old game. Nothing will be fixed asap like with any new MMO. Only thing you will get will be slow steps.
For me, polishes turned to liability. We will see only small balance changes (not a bad thing), just small steps overall. Stability is good, but not if the game is in this shape. Just live with it.

And for the broker thing. Roll an alt, sell things, sent money to main. Oh, maybe you will be banned. Sry mate, next time......

Please change Healing Conduit to read HP instead of MP already - so people can stop thinking it's "broken." I don't care if the skill sucks - you only have to change ONE LETTER in the description!

Arshole is mild compared to many names I have seen. Every Character name thought of to be insulting or derogatory to women is in game.

Her points about offensive material are no less important that client issues for people playing in the abyss. In fact it's likely far easier to address her concerns than it is to fix yours (yours requires engineering effort, hers doesn't is my point).

Each person sees various problems at different priority levels and I would guess that roughly the same # of people are affected by both of your issues.

About half your suggestions could be fixed with a larger GM/support staff over at NCWest. Which, of course, NCsoft is unwilling to shell out for until they are sure it's going to make it in the West, which of course just feeds back in on itself in an infinite loop.

As to the /1 channel being global, that's a terrible idea, IMHO. I don't want to have to listen to rambling from a thousand other players in a dozen other zones that aren't of consequence to where I am.

Point is, global channels in just about any MMO system seldom, if ever, work out for their intended purporse, and end up being just a group babblefest, as you mentioned. And virtually any LFG channel or system seems to fail because people will instead just use those to chat, babble or spam.

Personally, I'd like to see /1 remain local, as it's supposed to be (but change it back to 'region' or 'local' and not 'say' -- what a horrible idea that was).

I would like to see the trade channel disappear, as I've hardly ever seen it used for that purpose anyway, and have questions as to whether it's really needed to begin with.

I'd like to see LFG stay, and remain a global channel, but just have it accessed through a macro system or some such, as opposed to plain old text. Have an LFG panel pop up, select what parameters you want (lfg, lfm, quest name, grinding, quest a, quest b, etc.), and then it sends the text automatically (with your two-minute timer). if not, people will continue to use it as a global chatroom, hardly anybody will ever use it properly, most will continue to spam their local chat instead, and those that DO use it properly will be drowned out by the other blathering.

If there has to be a global channel, just have a new one installed, call it /global, and be done with it. There are a number of unassigned chat numbers/channels apparently still in the game, the devs might as well use one of those for it.
