CE Upgrade Closed Early? WTF? Time Cards unavailable!?

I got Aion as a birthday present on Oct. 10th and chose to try it out before updating to the Collector's Edition. That was the main reason I waited to update until the end of the period. I'm sure there were others in the same boat as me.

Guys at the end of the day, Oz had a hard time because "X*" basically ruined his plans for that day.
If your plans were ruined, especially when it's "I'm getting paid on so-so date, and its great how it all fits in", you would be gutted.

So rather than giving Oz an even worse time, how about; "I can understand where you are coming from".

I've had a few cases like these, it's a bad day, I'm sure everyone else has too.

*X being whoever decided the CE should stop "early". Even if it was meant to stop at that time, since so many people do not understand the definition of "until" - I admit I am slowly becoming confused by what until means - it can say one thing in the dictionary, but mean another to the writer.
And X is also the store(s) that did not have time cards.

I tend to buy gamecards so I have to make an affirmative action in order to continue playing, rather than stop and forget I am subscribed. In fact, that happened with EvE Online last week, so I got hit for $15.00 there. Gamecards help me prevent that, and I pay for the luxury in tax.

Read the thread again. They lost the sales of all the players who wanted to buy it the last day and really would have bought it on the 22th.
Also it's not a debate on the meaning of "until", because it was already closed for some who tried the 21st. It's their own fault if people didn't understand their message, because they're the one selling the stuff. There are easy ways to prevent that confusion when addressing to hundreds of thousands of customers.
You can defend their poor scheduling and their misunderstanding of how people work with offers that are limited in time, you couldn't buy the upgrade on the 21st already. Personally my reaction was only "Ok then keep your stuff, I keep my money". Now I'm not sure if I'll buy it anymore, so whatever! They must be right yeah.

This is a little beyond silly. If your played time is defined as "until Oct 23rd" and you can play through to 11:59pm on Oct 23rd, then NCSoft already defined "until" as including the date mentioned. It's not like he's pulling a definition out of his ***.

*sigh* Good luck with this. I'm not a fan of how our economy works either, and understand the situation you're in. One month everything's right as rain and the next it can all go down the toilet. Not everyone has been fortunate enough to land well paying jobs, or have parents who can afford the exorbitant loans needed to attend college without the student needing a job to support themselves. When it comes down to it a) how you spend your money is no one's business and b) a subscription to an online game is a hell of a lot cheaper than just about any other source of entertainment.

Regardless if you think they were wrong to wait until the last day or not.
(BTW I completely understand rent+student loans = me broke 99.99% of the time, not all of us get handed everything on a silver platter

A company must have standards. In the mmo biz (all of them I have played DAoC on) until X date means 12am the day after. Just check your subscription time.

Quick Question for everyone.

So, right now I could go buy a copy of regular Aion (from the ncsoft store) ...and then upgrade it on Thursday?

Or, should I just wait until Thursday and get the collector's edition flat out.

I guess my question is whether it will be listed as a "$10 upgrade" or if it will be a completely different price like it was prior to release.

these are two different products the full Retail "Limited Collectors Edition" is not being re-released. they are only making the $10 upgrade availble again for a short time as that is what came down earlier than expected.

so yes you could by the regular Aion now and then pay an additional 10 dollars to upgrade it on thursday, whch would get you the in-game items that came with the collectors edition.

Though it may be possible to find the actual boxed version of CE, as of yesterday two of the gamestops near me each had two still.

Why must everything be on opposite ends of the spectrum? I can understand that people who flame the OP and other people that are having difficulties in their lives whether through a job loss or what not having the stance that they do. Budgeting your finances will help out throughout every aspect of your life (sorry my job of being a Financial Advisor just had to come out here. =) But for those of you who choose to defend people who live paycheck to paycheck seem to take the complete opposite end and say 'We don't have everything handed to us on a silver platter.

Is it so out of the realm of possibility that people work hard for what they have, live on a budget, know when to splurge on non-essentials, and not have everything handed to them? I'm 27 years old, work full-time, have school loans to pay back which I do on a monthly basis, manage to balance my accounts at several banks, have excellent credit, etc. I'm not posting this to brag or to get a cookie from anyone, just posting to point that despite what people seem to post here either flaming the OP and other people who are having difficulties by saying 'You can't afford $10?' and the others who post 'We don't have everything handed to us', there are people in the middle who can manage just fine.

Waiting until the last moment never helped out. Wait until the last moment to book a flight and you're probably going to be overpaying. Wait until the last moment to do a report for school/work and it'll probably be rushed and not great. Wait until the last day to send in your payment for bills and you're bound to forget it once in a while and probably get hit with late fees. /as important as budgeting your finances are, budget your time as well. Have something due on the 10th? Schedule it to be done/paid/withdrawn on the 6th. Had until the 22nd to upgrade? Make a note of it and analyze on the 18th if you want to upgrade, if you do, then upgrade, if not, then don't. Just don't QQ about it afterwards and say 'I'm a paying customer, you should appease my demands'. We all have to live by the same rules/regulations. And please keep the politics and your distaste for Obama out of conversations like this. Nothing makes me rage more than people using the excuse 'OMG Obama caused this' for everything wrong in the world.
