I'm pretty sure Aion will have swimming "sometime" after release..just look at L2 as an example, they didn't have swimming at release either but it was put in eventually.

Agreed, I would rather have it later, If they tried to put it in now that would just push the release date back and we cant have that now can we. A lot of code would have be inputed for swimming like can we fight underwater, will spells work, should we spawn gills and fins instead of wings or nothing at all, or are we going to just splash around in the water and have none of these things.

FFXI didn't have any swimming in it and yes at times (rarely) it was annoying, but overall it did not effect the game for me at all. WoW had swimming and yes it was nice and i would prefer it like this, but not having it surely doesn't detract from the game.

The list goes on - Instances are sweet.

Now this is for instanced Dungens not a static instanced world. (GW dropped the ball on this one) The world should be dynamic with a few instanced zones for groups.

I'm talking about instanced zones (I don't mean dungeons I think they should be instanced), for me a seemless world with no loading times (again, except dungeon) with a big world to explore that is always there is really one of the most important things, less lag? I'm willing to sacrifice gfx or whatever you want for it, chat spam? just leave that chat .. or hide it.. comeon..well I guess it's a matter of taste.

I really enjoy swimming in EQ, when enduring breath would run out and watching your guildies spas out, it was so evil.

We need an "official, clear, precise, definitive" answer about swimming.

It's really annoying since x months, each time having to answer "yes, probably added to the release."

I know, long time ago, NCsoft Europe answered "yes", but nothing came confirm.

I believe NCsoft Korea already released a notice about "swimming" not being a feature at release nor in expansions.

Big deal, you can't swim...bohoo...

The official, clear, precise, definitive answer is as follows: The development team is aware that some people want swimming and may put it in-game at some point, but not necessarily at launch. They feel that certain other parts, mechanics and elements of the game have priority.

The only thing that bothers me is that in a game that is graphically so polished, you get to see your char walking under water. One thing I realized though, playing on GC I felt to the water and I died almost instantly, without a single chance to swim back. Swimming is not important for me, but they'd have to restrict the entrance to deep waters then cause it looks terrible.

And i disagree with you on taking intelligence to get through it, I'm sure there are peeps that have done them 10 or 12 times just looking for rare loot (they could go through it blind folded).
But fear not there will be Instances in Aion, just not one at every corner.

Well there are several Raid Instances in EQ2 that take Hours and Even Days to do for the badest of the badasses and it requires alot of teamwork and intelligence. Hell even some of the group instances take hours.

Swimming is easy to implement but they have alot of stuff to do that's why it's pushed back, I'm sure it will be added eventually, anyhow, it's not something that will make or break this game for anyone I'm sure.
