I dont really care for hypemeters and the like. For me its going to do one of two things.
Fail Win Im betting on the second, altho its nice to see it starting to get some attention by the people __________________

Hype is not necessarily a good thing , it has ruined some games before because when you have an over-hyped game people expect it to be perfect but in reality no game is perfect look at what hype done to vanguard/AoC/Spore despite the developers faults it still had a negative effect.
Aion hype at the moment at MMORPG is just great , we don't need to be number 1 it's better to stay low-profile ( only in this regard) so later when the game gets released people will be shocked of how good this game really is. Beside we all know Aion is way better than all the other games ![]() |

The more coverage they publish on the title, the higher the hype will go as well, Hype and rating on that website doesn't necessarily mean much, though.

The only benefit of having a game on top of the Hype list is because it makes it more visible, and will make people curious to check into it.

I seem to remember a lot of people that wanted to help get AION exposure...and now that it finally gets exposure half of you turn around and say," hype doesn't mean anything" or "it'll be bad for the game to be over hyped" So what is it? you can't have both. I think it is in the best interest of the game to get a lot of publicity. So long as the devs don't do something stupid...or more likely NCNA CEO says "it'll kill wow" I don't think we have to worry about AION, being overhyped. As far as SWTOR...who has had their head that far in a hole the past week or now two that they didn't know about SWTOR...I think that game is doomed. To me it really sounds like they are taking KOTOR and dropping it in an online environment. I think that you're going to play the game and find that it feels a lot like playing a KOTOR game expect you happen to be playing online and paying a monthly fee to do so. The teaming concepts just do not feel very strong...there has been almost zero mention of them. the story isn't everything and that is all the devs have been talking about. I think SWTOR fell off the radar because people see that.
As it stands now AION is leading at 8.41, .01 ahead of darkfall. and ranked #5 on the overall list. |

Well I guess hype is in ways a good thing, a bad thing and an irrelivant thing. Obviously, it CAN show how much hype there is about the game (good) but if a game is super hyped it could make the developers decide to release the game early to meet the huge demand or they might start thinking even if they don't do there best, due to all the hype people will play anyway (bad).
However for the everyday gamer, hype should be just that - hype. We shouldn't choose what games we play simply according to what the majority of people are going to play - we should choose for ourselves and decide what game do WE personally think is best and what game are WE going to have most fun playing. |

We're not saying it's a bad thing at all. I think it's a good thing because it does give Aion that exposure, but at the same time it would be nice if there was more coverage on Aion all together over here.
