If you weren't aware, NCSoft has implemented limited game visibility on their web site - you can see not only characters and guilds - but the status of your AH items and friends / legion mates who are online.

Nice article though. The thing I found the most interesting about Aion's website was the ability to track your leveling and progress day-by-day. Nothing like a nice little graph to show you how much you were slacking this week compared to last haha.

Exactly. The fact that the data on the web site is near real-time is what makes it relevant and powerful.

Everquest had a feature to chat with your guildmates without being in game in like 1999. If I remember correctly you could also look at your gear.
