GUYS calm down
! There are no true Bots in Aion yet, all that you maybe see at very rare occasions are some macro running keyboard scripts which are targetting and killing mobs, nothing more. Even though Bots will always exist in those games, in Aion they wont affect us at least. This game is definately not L2, the source code hasnt been stolen and the game mechanics would make it totally difficult and nearly useless to bot in Aion.Just because they didnt do anything against the bots in L2 says nothing... What about Guild Wars and their other MMORPGs, did you have of a bot problem there? No! Even though banning can reduce a bot problem, its the game itselve that encourages botting or not! Aion definately does not! I even talked to a head of a chinese farmer site, he told me that Aion makes it totally difficult to bot and due to the game itself its mostly worthless to do so! Thanks for listening, LD Last edited by Lord Devil; 11-20-2008 at 03:51 AM.. |

hmmm heres a good story of how much they didnt care about bots bak in the day...
Long ago i had a friend before he quit L2 to go bak to WoW and he said he was waiting for WAR but anyways he made a gladi and named her "WetPu55y" he said he wanted to see how long he could go before they made him change his name which they will if some one complains about it cuz its vulger ect ect... well he was also botting his toon at the same time so he got a e-mail from the support team one day saying that his charectors name was in direct violation of the user aggreement ect ect.. so they gave him 3 days to e-mail them bak 3 names that he would like it to be changed to or they would change it to NameChange 1234 or w/e. But he knew he was gonna quit anyways so knowing that the GM might come IG to inform him that his name was changed and he would need to relog or smth he kept the bot going. Sure enough2 days after the 3 days was up early in the morning he was botting out in Forsaken Plains and a LIVE GM came IG and was sending him PMs that his char name was changed and he would need to relog now for the change to take place. Ofcourse he didnt awnser bak to the GM because he wasent there even after the GMs repeated attempts of saying "Hi"... "Hello are you there?" he didnt respond. So what do u think the GM did? said to him "ok i am going to log you out of the game so the change will take place" "thanks for your time and enjoy playing Lineage 2". He said he loged bak in after he came bak and saw that he was dissconnected from the server and nothing had change except his toons name and he went right bak on the bot lol. I never thought there was anything more funny then this was gg NCSoft. |

Just want to say that WoW does not have any bots so it's possible to do.
They do have gold farmers though and powerleveling / gold selling though but that's everywhere. |

Epic thread.
NCwest switched the policy of NC Austin to passively policing to actively policing. NC Austin used to only investigate reported bots via petitions and support tickets. Now that they formed NC West seems like someoen finally made the desicion to actively pursue bots. It made a huge difference in Lineage II. I played Lineage II for close to 5 years now and still do play on bartz server. There are still bots in the game but they are being banned much much more frequently. As for the person who made the comments about LordOfLords. I think I went thru 20 GM's complainign about them and yelling at the GM's telling me they were useless. After a few months of no progress I kept asking to speak to their superiors and calling them useless until I finally got to HGM Spam. Less than a week after speaking to Spam LordOfLords were gone. I think Spam was ablivious to what was going on, and I believe there was corruption in the ranks of the GM's probably running their own bot trains and adena selling services. On to AION, it is a game by design that does not favour bots. I highly doubt you will see bots in AION except maybe people botting up characters for the purpose of powerlvling services and/or selling accounts. I have not played the game yet but I wonder how the gold situation in the game is. Will people be purchasing gold? Or is it reasonable to obtain items from quests/mobs? This will be a good game I hope or I will go back to my cave Lineage II. Even with all its flaws I still manage to distance myself from the bots and ebayers and enjoy my own little deluded world in L2. If you play on bartz you probably know who I am. My in game name is same as my forum name here. |

Don't go all gloom and doom quite yet guys. Yes, bots are bad. Unfortunately you cannot prevent people from making bots. Going way out of the norm in attempting to prevent them usually only ends up punishing the players who are honest.
Think of the hyper-restrictive DRM on some recent video games (I won't name any specific ones but the initials of one that comes to mind are SPORE). nyerks very quickly got around that DRM and released torrents of it, but the honest players who have neither the desire or know-how to crack a game were pretty severely punished for actually spending money on the game. A system that punishes the honest is a bad system. I recommend that everyone sit back for a bit and see how NCSoft handles the issue. You can't stop the bots from showing up, but you can do something about it when they do. Look at how Mythic has handles bots and goldspammers: brutal, instant bans that involve locking down IPs and deleting all ill-gained goods. They have proved that active measures are very effective. Give NCSoft a chance. __________________ Your curse of sight renders you blind to reality. |

So sorry to say but your assumption is really not true. Surely Blizzard bans alot and tries to change game mechanics to not favor them (like Aion does) and that is what really matter, but WoW is no exception... Kind regards, LD |

So yeah, I'm less than shocked they weren't concerned at all with bypassing the "protection" to get their bots to work. |

WOW! OK! No offense but everyone who has ever played lineage2 knows NCsoft's track record on handling bots. Its not that they can't ban every bot its that they don't even make a effort to try. Anyone who says otherwise (even a ncsoft employee) is simply lieing to the public and themselfs.
Ive talked with my clan about bots before and we simply decided that in the event that bots are not dealt with more effectivly (than lineage2) our alliance (thats 5 clans with over 300 players, yah I know they don't care if we do this) will completly boycott aion. Seriously there are 2 things ncsoft could have done easilly to increase popularity and profit of lineage2 and soon aion. a) Listen to players who report bots. Add a petition system selection for how many bots are in the party reported. I don't care if the single bots are left alone for a little while but when I report a bot train of 8 to 40 bots and it's still there a week later thats just retarded and no ncsoft employee has ever been able to give me a good reason why there still around. b) I use to run the first ever RFonline private server with over 4000 players. Codemasters sent me a cease and desist and suddenly they had 4000 more people playing there game. In retrospect lineage2 private servers at peak have twice the players ncsofts official servers have. Even if only a fraction of those players were playing official lineage2 it would be a huge profit increase. So basically in one reality we have paid GM's banning bot trains and maybe even just 1 dedicated lawyer shutting down private servers OR We get another cluster of maybe 8 servers (packed full of botters) while the koreans have 30+ packed servers. Anyways im seriously rooting for ncsoft here (maybe they got new NA management?). I may come of as a harsh critic but I really just want this game to succeed. It seems like another great fame from NCsoft korea that may be missmanaged by NCsoft NA (and honestly who can blame me with there track record) |

ive used NC's customer service and its so awful.
i dont even have the time to explain my rage about that because it would go on for a while. all im going to say is theyre morons that cant tell thier *** from thier elbow even if you explained it to them. so dont get your hopes up about anti botting things even if they say theyll do something about it. you got more chance for it to happen on runescape. ![]() __________________ Inventor of Epeen Jousting

Some ppl pointed out that Nc entended to let ppl to bot increase their income. Well, let's consider that they've made the right choice with NcWest and L2 is heading towards a better ig experience. What truely concernes me is represented by the constant updates that brought huge advantages to the bot users (non dropable items, untrainable rooms....). These changes came from the koreeans through chronicles/thrones. On the other hand, lots of things in L2 were created with a specific purpose and the players exploited it leading to economic and pve imbalances. Take the cursed weapons for example: NC stated that they were implemented so that players would kill bots without regreting the sh*tloads of karma points; how did it end? destroyers 1on1-ing Raid Bosses.
ontopic: I'm sure that Aion will have bots and one day it will ruin a major part of the game. But I expect the game to be fun for 1-2 year(s) because it's a fresh game and it will definetly start with few servers leading to a huge community on each and one of them.
