No, I mean in a few months....because any respectable programmer uses new data encryption and hashes on each new build, especially when it goes public....apparently not everyone does. So either the programmers are retarded or this was done within a few months or less, which is quite pathetic, it's not even live and you have bots running around.

I'll tell you what I'd really be worried about. I'd be worried about a bot/farmer alliance like we had in the Bartz server of L2, LoL (lord of lords). What they would do is:
1.Sell people Adena for American money on ebay. 2.Control most of the raid bosses, bringing them down within minutes, only a few seconds after they would spawn. 3.Sell the raid loot to players for a ridiculous amount of Adena (the very same adena they sold the player on ebay). 4.rinse and repeat. This buckled the economy of L2 and pretty much ruined it. Even if there weren't heavy demand for such items, I wouldn't want to see them, say for instance, control the abyss. If they had bots running 24/7, it wouldn't be far fetched to say that they could control castles pretty easy. For one thing, they could probably fend actual players of the other faction off do to bot programs. If they could do that, I couldn't see why they wouldn't be able to take the Balaur down as well (unless it was fully run by GMs and they made every Balaur literally unbeatable). Not only that, but if they work as an alliance, they'd probably have an equal amount on each faction, so they could split control of the abyss down the center and profit from both sides. Of course this would depend on how much they'd be benefiting from control of castles. I have no clue as to what the tax rate would be and whatnot. That being said, I'd have to contradict my conspiracy theory for the sole reason that by doing this, they would be to large an entity to go unnoticed, and would have to suffer the repercussions thereafter (the only reason LoL was around for so long was because NCAustin didn't do anything). After all, I highly doubt that after all the time and effort (and money) NCSoft has put into making this games and its image, that they would want it trampled upon by a large infestation of bots. (Gasps for breath)But I digress. Once this game goes live for us, I think that we should do our part as the games true community to keep the game from total damnation. Yes, it should be the responsibility of the developer to maintain order for their customer base, but god knows they probably won't be able to rid every single bot off of the face of Atreia, so it can't hurt to help. In doing so, if NCWest is truly the embodiment of change, they'll do their end of the bargain to eliminate the threat. AND THEN WE MAKE PARTY! ![]() __________________

At least they are doing it in open beta where they can still fix it before the actual game release hopefully

Bots will happen, and if they stop it, it will happen again, the question is, will they ruin the game, or will the game be bot proof.

Quote:
L2 US/EU died because NCwest looked at short term profits instead of long term profits. Because everything took alot of time to earn (adena, weapons, mats, armor, etc) who in there right mind would put in hours upon hours of there time into the game just to get gear just to see someone surpass you with $$$ and or bots? L2 and most other pvp MMO's which most are nowadays is about competition you want to compete with others. How do you compete with bots? How do you compete with ppl ebaying hundreds of million of adena? You cant, you cant get the levels, gear, adena that the bots ebayers get in the same amount of time. What do you do? Yes you quit because you dont feel any sense of accomplishment after spending countless hours leveling/gearing your char. OR you can ebay more adena than them or BOT more than them. This is what L2 NA/EU has become a botting/ebay contest. To have a succesful game players need to feel that the time they sink into it is NOT wasted and its important that they have something to show for the hours they spend in the game. You feel proud of your character after grinding it up and gearing it out right? You lose that feeling when people accomplish what you did in a fraction of the time using illegal methods. Honestly who wants to compete with people who bot/ebay by botting/ebaying too and or ignoring the problem pretending there just part of the game? Yes very few those are the people on the L2 west servers. IF however NCWest ran there operations like Korea NcSoft we wouldnt have this problem. The majority of people like interacting(talking, partying) with others and actually PLAYING the game so I can gaurantee you that all the people those 9 man bot parties drove from the game would bring in MUCH more revenue than those bots. Just because Ncsoft west decided botting was more profitable doesnt mean they were right. NCSoft west probably was trying to make there books look good. They allowed the bots to keep there accounts so that they could report higher revenue, guess that didnt work out too well in the end eh? Bet some people got fired =D I really cant stress this enough if a player feels like he/she is accomplishing something in game and is having fun they will keep playing. If you allow cheaters to take away your player bases sense of accomplishment they will leave. The game just becomes grinding but never leveling or getting drops (you cannot outlevel a bot and cannot compete with ebayers). I really hope they can get it right this time for Aion and this is a huge rant. I usually dont type this much ![]() Last edited by Anirk; 11-18-2008 at 03:14 AM.. |

Guys calm down
![]() I mean I hate bots as much as you do... and yeah sadly L2 was very very bad in that... but hey... this is Aion. Aion does not have anyway as many game mechanics offered for botters than Lineage 2 does. I mean L2 is nearly made with botters in mind, due to the very hard grind, completly free market system and the stolen source code etc. ! Aion is much more comparable to WoW - Botters dont get much out of it nor can they really interfere with the players, so I don't think Aion will have as much problems with bots as L2 has. So please don't make the mistake again and prejudge the game as another botting game. Aion is a completly different game and falls much more in the WoW department, thus I don't think that Bots are really useful in this game, since Quests/Missions are a necessarity to do, which makes it very hard for raising real farmer bots ![]() Kind regards, LD |
