First bots in Aion

lol why ppl waste time comparing L2 to aion?

L2 is mass grind game and very time demanding.if u dont play 6 hours a day u r nothing unless u bot or ebay.
aion is more casual.
jesus on L2 unless u have full party(9 ppl with specific classes) to go top xp/pvp spot.
on aion u dont require anything of that.
why worry so much about bots?
best areas r on abyss.abyss is where all action gonna be.
now which farmer gonna set his bot to farm for gold/gear on free kill zone?

ppl bot freely in L2 because pking them is a waste.u gonna waste alot of pk to the onwer to come and kill u and get some drops while rezzing his train with no loss?

stop comparing L2 bot problem and aion that isnt even out yet,beside that dude that set up the bots is problaby testing to see if works properly or not.

if u wanna compare games in terms of botting do wow which is more close to xp curve and gear wise

About the Greeks botting...I can totally see that, heh. Wasn't there this huge deal about one of the free Lineage II servers set in Greece? Well, I can TOTALLY see them doing that, lol! MOST of my relatives totally act all macho and better than everyone, =p. I am Cypriot, (Cyprus = small country slightly near Greece, but I live in New Jersey), and whenever I go there, I am completely shocked at how much they all "hack" into things, haha. But, yea, the Greeks are probably up there with the Chinese and Koreans for botting and "ebaying" items. I wouldn't doubt it...there's a huge Illegal Download/Distribution problem in Greece/Cyprus...and I speak Greek, haha! A bit off-topic, but I thought it would be an interesting first post, haha. I remember buying this Gameboy game about ten years ago there that had about 250 Gameboy games on them..in different languages, all pirated, no doubt.

Lol gameguard isn't very difficult to crack, they haven't change the source of it's existence, they just keep applying small patches that are way too specific.

One question, is there an actual reason as to why they are banning bots on L2 now? I would be pleasantly surprised if it was just to boost their image and because they want the game to be taken care of finally after 4 years and a 75% drop in subscriptions...It doesn't make sense to do it now.

But its a step in the right direction, everyone interested in Aion that comes here or to mmorpg.com thinks "NCsoft > Lineage 2 > Bots....no thank you".

That may be the biggest crock I have ever read from a NCsoft employee. As high GM, Spam has been NCsoft's principal non-enforcer of the L2 EULA since it was released or at least since the first few chronicles. He knows NCsoft's EULA enforcement practices up to now and doesn't have the credibility to lead enforcement of the EULA now.

Perhaps because the big NC execs don't like to see their income banned from the game? At the end of the day this is a company whose purpose is making money for someone or other; it's not a nonprofit organization.

NCsoft Austin is gone, and I think perhaps the problem with banning bots before was not the GM's, but their bosses, and what they are told to do for their jobs.

Oh there is no doubt, at least in my mind, that NCsoft hasn't ethically enforced the L2 EULA in an effort to keep subscriber numbers as high as possible. I think they understand that decision is more likely to limit profit in the long run though. Having your brand name being almost synonymous with botting in the MMORPG industry isn't a very desirable distinction. The creation of NC West and NCsoft's new interest in enforcement of the L2 EULA is probably part of a major course correction to take control of their company and brand globally and move past the string of bad strategic decisions the company has made in recent years. That said, NCsoft doesn't get a pass from me for unbalancing L2 through selective EULA enforcement albeit beneficial to the bottom line. I am probably not alone in that opinion. NCsoft has alot of work to do in reforming its image.

And if you think a company would care about real players over botters, consider this: bots do not need new content, a botter can max level one of ever toon over and over from the same game as it exists at launch, bots do not complain, you will never hear of a botter pming a GM because her bots are stuck, or an interface doesn't work, they just figure it out themselves or bot in another fashion, botters farm the resources people use their Visa card to buy, normal people sure as hell don't grind that much, but they will sure as hell spend some of that X-mas bonus on a new sword, botters add to their concurrent number totals when they claim they compete with Wow, it doesnt matter only 25% of those logged in are actual humans, they are paying accounts and that's what the marketing department can use to build L3 and GW2 on.

The quote from HGM Spam says they banned 400k accounts. I'll bet 80% of them bought new accounts the next day and they know it, thats 320k new accounts @ $50 a pop. $16,000,000. Ya 16 million dollars from bot resubscriptions, maybe more. The guys who decided not to enforce L2's EULA were not bastards, they were geniuses.

Totally agree with you. Really, many ex L2 players stay away from Aion, becouse of L2 and bad image of NCsoft. Imo all that bot banning now in L2 now is just try to make good image of NCsoft becouse of incomming Aion.

I have almost 4 years experience with NCsoft and L2. Here always was TONS of bots/ebayers/cheaters in L2. I personally reported many bots in past and did that almost every day, cuz like fool i had hope that they will be banned. But after writing petitions day after day I saw that nothing is happening, and same bots was runing for months. All that "bot war" was just a myth. About what war they are talking about, when in almost every corner of L2 world you can find more bots than live players? This is a joke really. They want war, give me gm rights and i will clean minimum 70% of botters from L2 in one day lol. And as L2 players know, botting/ebaying is not only problem, here is another kind of cheaters who uses special programs for help in pvp. I was in one of the largest and strongest alliances in Teon server for almost 3 years, and no one ever was banned for using that program. Lol at NCsoft and their bot war, what a joke!
Only hope in Aion is that here maybe wont be point to bot or ebay, but i shouldn't put big hopes in NCsoft. Main their goal is not to make game fair or something, main goal is to get much as possible $$$, keep that in mind guys and girls.
