Why do you hate bots/gold farmers ect

quite clear why they are hated:

1) They hog one area that they are farming: they will pk you and harass you with their "higher lvl" i'm guessing their supervisors until you leave the area. They will not compromise and will not interact with you

2) If not ran by a person, they will either be running a bot that going along a designated path auto targeting and kill the mobs. This is against the EULA and clearly cheating in every sense of the matter

3) They promote buying/selling gold off and gives an unfair advantage to those who feel that they can get ahead of the game simply by paying up.

3b) This, in effect, usually will result in players who are high lvl decked out with high end equipment but with minimal knowledge on their class. Hence if you ever group with such people, they will ruin your experience. This is not always the case as i've seen people who buy accounts and jump right in and do well - MMO is not for rocket scientist. However, frequently you'll see the former.

4) They ruin economy - stated in other people's reply - clear cut

I think if all bots go Elyos it'll be ok, since the economy is pretty much going to be in 2 sets, reminds me of RF Online- 3 races, although terrible... best way to make money was to leave your char mining for hours.. what a game o_O atleast grinding, you do somehting. BUT yeah, hopefully botting doesnt become a huge issue for a while atleast XD
and then i'll be high lvl so no worries for me

As for hogging areas I do not have a problem with this considering I never or hardly ever solo out in the open. I find a nice spot in a corner and do my thing.

Yeah I havent really had issues with bots farming in my areas. If anything is a concern, its the lack of mobs in areas from what I've seen on live streams. Perhaps thats a way of counteracting against bots? Then again they would just work over a wider radius ;d.

honestly, after playing L2 on a server for 2 years with no botting, no cash/donation shops and mild ebaying (yes people have been selling oe'd gear and chars through ebay), theres not much difference, the only difference is the end game gear is pretty much unattainable by yourself, clans make them from crafting and raiding and give them out to members, so in general clans own all of the end game gear, and anyone with end game gear got it from their clans...which is the way they intended it to be in the first place.

this mainly and that they dont really have to work for there achievements while other ppl have to put in their time/work/skill to be successful, it just doesnt feel right to me

on a related note: ive played silkroad for like 4-6 months (dunno really^^) well and everywhere where I went i encountered bots doing there *business* (lol) but i could deal with them (deal with them = trying to ks them but as they mostlikely were 5-10 lvls higher than me i had to leave the place),at least till up to lvl 68 (yeah i made it up to lvl 68 without botting....) but from that point on 98% of the charachters i encountered were bots and things just felt pointless so i gave up, so yeah my hate for bots is pretty big even tho i havent played L2 for 2 years like other ppl....

Is it the spam in chat? or the stupid bot killing your quest mobs and so on? the fact some rich kid just brought a toon in the same gear you worked so hard for kinda thing?.

Feel free to vent im just really interested, the other day i was playing wow (yeah yeah bash away) and i was on vent with some guildies and thier all going on about how much they hate goldfarmers and so on, but when asked why noone could give me an answer rofl.

I have reason for hating bots and so on myself and want to see them kept outside of aion (as do we all ^^ ) but i was jsut wondering why you hate them and why do you think its so bad to have the likes of these things in the game.

I hate them because they take up character slots on server, they run the economy and they're the complete opposite of what MMOs are about; play and work for your ****.

Maybe I'm a being a lil' hypocrite about all this, considering my brother contributed to the first Ragnarok Online bot, which I used for the longest time, but I abused the bot so much that playing MMOs was ruined by the bot. I didn't like playing MMOs anymore. I know I'll never touch a bot ever again and Im recommending everyone who never botted to never try them. They'll ruin the fun, big time.

- Spamming gold sellers - it takes a while to type fsh436j3hj235h3, fjfgjdjfgjdfj462ms or any symilar nick in block window.... And few hours after you'll block them, there'll be dozen of another ones.
- Gold sellers destroys the ingame economy, usually causing serious over/underpricing of items.
- Bots are mainly used for gold farming, so... like above.

I often like to play the merchant role in a MMORPG so I like to open shop, focus on trade/crafting as a secondary form of fun/income in a MMORPG.

Gold farmers...I got problems with them. The only big problems I have with them is that they trash the in-game economy and the damage then trickles down into other aspects of the game affecting crafting/trade skills, player's in-game money income, and ridiculous rise in prices for items. The other minor problems I have with farmers is that they give other players who are willing to buy their stuff an non-legit way of gaining an advantage over other players who don't buy from farmers, which could affect game play. This is bad for average legit casual players like me.

Bots? I don't hate the bots, I dislike the people who are using bots.
