There's no such alliance feature in Aion like there was in GW and other popular games, afaik. And that sucks. I like the idea of Alliances.

Agreed.

Though lack of ingame alliance system doesn't mean you can't create 'unofficial' one.

Why do I hate bought characters? True stories- EQ1 L50 Warrior joins the group, but cannot hold aggro, he is asked if he is Taunting the mob, his reply? 'Why would I want the mob to hit me?' EQ1 L4x Druid made a comment, 'Oh, I didn't know my buffs worked on others...' /slap Vanguard L50 Cleric, he insisted that since he was 'War style' that he was now a meleer and NOT a healer?!?
Basically, with bought chars you get a probably fine character, but the player has little or no idea of their role and abilities. Not always, but often, bought chars are L1 noobies in disguise.

Why do I hate BOTs? BOTs cannot interact with live community, if you need to clear a camp with a live player you can come to an agreement to group and clear it, take turns, etc... While with a BOT they just hit your mobs, grab your loot and in general turn anything remotely grinding into a fight for spawns with no recourse but things like training, or delaying your fun on the time it takes a GM to arrive at last.

Farmers... These are often BOTs as well with a live minder, but rather than just levelling unattended, they are farming coins and items for sale through an outside game agency. When you challange them by daring to be in a dungeon or area they have claimed expect to be trained or even one-shotted by a high level minder.

I am surprised they haven't added alliances yet. Will probably be added before going live hopefully.

I agree with this completely. I hate it when I am doing some high level content with a group and you end up getting someone who doesn't have a clue. Even people who stand in town on a bought character and act like an elitist. I do not mind a bought account if they are starting a new character though.

I hope Aion has something like a farming code similar to GW(I do not mean loot scaling that was evil). If you over farmed an area you would be flagged and all the drops that were for you in that area would be nerfed to common items or be nothing at all.

Loot scaling was when the number of drops and their rarity depended on the size of your party.

Never heard 0.o they must've added that after I've left the game...

Loot scaling was implemented at the end of April last year. It sucked so bad.

The anti-farming code I think doesn't exist anymore.

The solution for this is rather simple though. By making gameplay more important in terms of strength than character progression through impementing player-skill oriented real time action-combat, paying a huge amount of money for minor strength increases would pretty much be meaningless.
Character Progression could still be there like it used to be, just in another way than increasing your chracters strength - such as unlocking cooler and harder missions, way cooler looking (while only little stronger) equipment that maybe unlocks harder to use, but little more efficient moves/combo options (which'd provide meaningful gameplay change) or interesting features (very generalized, but there are many options). So the feeling of progression wouldn't be lost, it'd just be of minor meaning. This did work already very well in several action-gameplay oriented RPGs (the most popular one probably being Monster Hunter from Capcom).
If only they would do this!

MMORPGs are momentaly basically about character progression, hence gaining better stats through leveling and gathering equipment. Because it's more enjoyable to be "strong" in a community than in an offline game (where no one gets ****ed off by yourself taking advantages), many people would pay alot of money for, which I find sad, since you shouldn't be able to buy the main core of strength through money, not even in games. Currency sellers are usually disliked more, as they tend to monopolize viable hunting grounds or profitable crafting recipes from actual players.

In short: Currency sellers and buyers are the cheats of MMORPGs. And simply no one likes to be cheated in a multiplayer game.
A shame: we pay to get cheated by others in MMOs AND we pay to get shafted IRL by Wall Streeters....double penetration hurts...but it feels so right!

because they help motivate 'change you can believe in!'

that and MMO ethics would be quite the bore without them!

Botters, farmers, hackers and cheaters in general can all suck my balls.

Don't you just love it when you get 5 tells from random people saying "want fast gold cheep? go to xyz.com only $5 for 80 gold!"
cause I DONT!

Don't you just love it when the item you were going to buy earlier cost 200 in game currency, and a month later, its now 500?
cause i certainly DON'T!

Don't you love knowing that there are people out there who just by having more money, managed to get huge amounts of in game currency and better gear, and you can't because you don't make $500,000 a year? I know that I DON'T!

It's fortunate that in EVE, Isk isn't farmable, only mining resources, and even then, Botters are vulnerable to being PKed by pirates, since mining ships tend to lack the ability to stand up to combat ships of their unit group, and what makes it even more satisfying is that if you did manage to find a botter, and blew his ship up.. OH NOES! he has to buy a new ship, and if he didn't have his skills covered, he may not even be able to use that ship. As to farming, it's a necessity since the bigger ships require tremendous amounts of resources to build, but it can be dangerous, the systems with the richest resources tend to have lower security which means PK PK PK!

I think it's clear botters and goldfarmers pretty mess up an MMO.

LOL! No kidding dude, that was awesome, although Hulk's are frickin crazy resilient. That refit she did though, she sacrificed some of her strip miners... that would reduce efficiency, and believe me, you need to be able to harvest FAST for you're corp, especially if you are planning on building a corp titan.
