Look at this thread and you know more than enough... I see allot of reactions and posts of people saying/thinking that in the EU/US release there will be bot's everywhere... and most of those people have never seen a bot in Aion, most of them even didn't played the Korean Open Beta. They believe so just because of your original post (what might not have been your intention, I understand). Judging on this topic, and the number of replys, someone with less knowledge of the English language could also believe that we actually played Aion and encountered more bots than human players ingame. So, once again... What can everyone learn out of this? Put everything in it's context and don't go crazy about something you read... only judge based on your own experience. Next to that: - We shouldn't flame Elliot for his opinion, but I think you go wrong when you hail one game (WoW in this case) and keep bashing the other one (Aion in this case) to force your opinion on everyone else. The point was made with the first post. - We shouldn't look at other people's experiences, that are different than those of the OP, as if they are flames towards the OP. We have the right to share and gather all information that could answer some questions about the subject. |

The discussion so far has swung between orderly and uncivil. Let's keep it in the civil zone, as Ethos has suggested.

for pplt hat didnt know NC is a korean comp the games that they made and then brought to us on this side of the world use to be run by NC Austin which didnt do well.... so NCsoft made a new comp over here called NC west which will now be running the wesrten market games for NcSoft korea

However if NcSoft think they can toy with us paying a considerable amount of money and trying to pull a similar service as l2 I'll gladly go to WoW. As much as I hate saying it, I'm coming from a background of f2p game devs manipulating everything they want as they see fit Korean mentality perhaps? Not that I want to sound racist but its evident in most games they make. We'll see though I still have an apprehensive outlook on the game |

Elliot wants Aion to succeed just as much as any of us he is just worried about the problems and wants us to take a firm stance against the problems.
There is no need to bash him because obviously the problems are there or the Koreans wouldn't be posting like crazy on the boards. Perhaps some servers are affected more than others who knows, but the problems are definately there. They may be understaffed with so many servers to police but I hope they get it together. |

- Stiff Character movement. This issue was mentioned in not only open beta but also way back in closed beta stage. If you've been playing WoW, everything in Aion will feel unnatural and stiff, including flying.
This is really bad news... |

not really. you have to remember some those ppl could be talking about the same bot tho. Look at RFO when the server crash there 20 threads being made saying the server crashed, I even seen the same thing with bots i remember 5 threads being made like a few min apart frm each other talking about the same bot. then when CM closed al 4 threads and left the 1st one open the OPs made threads asking why they did that.
So if you think that SN can tell how everything int he game is then all i have to say is WOW, so i didnt see you commenting ont he WOW forums SN bc that had alot of complaints on it to Quote:
about the flying part even in the LIVE video Feed I couldnt tell any stiff movement like befor he basing eveything off of WoW the guy never played retail AION just basing his op on a form, SO really you going to have to get insight frm players that are actly playing the game to see if there are char movement problems Last edited by TwilightAngel; 12-02-2008 at 12:06 PM.. OK, so reading the whole thread, and as much as I can of the various linked articles, the summary seems to be as follows:
There are a few things that need to bared in mind:
So, enough lists, they were just for clarification (although they seem to ramble a bit now looking back on it). In my opinion things are never as bad as they will seem on the forum, I am far more likely to lend weight to the arguments of people actually playing the game. The fact that there are bots there is disappointing, but inevitable. It's the response that matters. What everyone here that has played L2 especially want to see is a strong reaction from NCSoft in regards to this. Noone should expect an immediate response, a knee-jerk reaction to fix this would not be in the best interests of the game, nor as effective as other measures that can be found through deliberation. The game is young, and NCSoft is probably wise to use the time they have, while the game is young, to find the correct solution. It could well be that botting to level is not efficient or called for, which is fine, it will die out, or be of little or no effect. Gold/resource farming is another matter, and can effect the economy a lot. However, the game setup seems to be that the truly profitable things will be in the abyss, which to all intents and purposes, will not be an environment conducive to botting - I am willing to adopt a wait and see approach here. The class balancing is a different matter altogether, and one that's taking place across -every- MMO there is. Noone will ever be happy with their class unless it is over powered in all ways, but that won't do to all the other classes. Time is what is needed to balance the classes properly. Regardless of how many people played the OBT, it's still not enough to find all the combinations and account for them. Again, we'll see the benefit of a more balanced game when it hits NA/EU. Overall I think NCSoft should be applauded for having what can probably be considered one of the smoothest launches of any MMO i've ever seen. with a 90% retention rate from free to paying account, that is pretty massive, especially when you consider the numbers we are talking about (several hundreds of thousands of concurrent players?!). What those bitten by the bot issue in previous games want now is strong evidence of a crack down on bots. I don't expect that to happen in the first month of the games release, there's probably more pressing issues to deal with first. However, I do expect to see something by early next year at the latest - if that is a crack down with the ban-hammer, or botters finding there's no market in Aion for them, I don't care, as long as it gets resolved. I would suggest everyone takes a deep breath, enjoy the good points, keep an eye on the bad ones, and invoke the mantra-a-la-Ayase and "Just wait and see, you will be very pleasantly surprised" |
