Jump Shot Combo Bug
Originally, rangers were able to perform something called "jumpshot" by jumping and using skills at the same time, which allowed them to use up to 3 skills under 1 second. Everytime a macro bug emerged that just made it easier to do this, NCsoft responded a patch. However, despite two patches, NCsoft failed to address the core problem; jump shoting. It was rumored that jumpshot was purposely added into the game as a way of balancing rangers. However, letting this "jumpshot" exist has produced yet another bug in the game.
Players noticed that jump shotting not only lets them use 3 skills at once, but also lets them use combo skills in any order. For example, skill A needs to be used in order to use Combo Skill B or C. The game normally only allows you to perform AB or AC. When you use B or C you return to the initial status, requiring skill A to be used again in order for B or C to be used. However, by jumpshotting you can perform ABC or ACB, clearly not what NCsoft had in mind. Orignal Post with Videos It seems that NCsoft needs to fix the jump shot itself, a problem dating back to Open Beta, in order to prevent further bugs from emerging. i thought the combo skills was meant to be like that from the beginning.
someone do a initial combo A to start it, and can finish with another B or/AND C to it. so if the one that initialise it use initial combo A then finish combo B, then another char can come in the middle of it and use C. in the gstar 2007 teaser vid it showed an abyss war before the balaurs came in and interrupted them: some mage used a combo A to hold a opponent in the air, while a glad(?) came and slammed him away with a combo B.. same concept would be if a assassin used a ini combo skill A to throw a opponent to the ground then several other assassin can come and use finisher combos in the time combo A is in effect.. and in this case, a ranger can do all those combo by himself, ABC or ACB at once as long the combo A is in effect.. (using jump shot he would actually have TIME to pull of both B and C while normally theres only TimE for B OR C) no? thats my interpretation of what NCSoft had in mind.. or am i lost in translation here. actually after the edit about TIME came in, i can see your point, though its not a bug but more a small exploit of Intended Game mechanic in regards to jumpshot. Personally, I think the Jump Shot shouldn't be there at all, and was stunned when they called it "intended" as opposed to an exploit. It's actually quite comical that of all the classes, a ranger who uses a bow, a weapon where its effectiveness is based almost entirely on accuracy and concentration, is designed to work most efficiently when bouncing around like a wild animal.That aside, considering all the other issues cropping up around it, they should just remove the damn thing and buff rangers already.

Whatever happened to Ranger/*cough*Hunter*cough* being easy-street when it came to user-input? Jumping is way too much hassle, screw that, if I wanted to pay attention I'd play Templar or something.

There is no way that i can belive that any class is meant to be jumping all the time during fights. They need to enhance the dmg rangers do (once i heard it's so little that can't even be considered a dps class) and make jump cancel any skill specially the motioned one's.

not All the time. they just screwed up on the nerf on rangers. thats a different issue though, and jumpshot is another issue.
IF they Really meant that its "working as intended", then i can believe its like a "cool, mysterious" mechanic they put in game ala wirts leg and the secret cow level that blizzard put in D2. gives it more twitch action a la counterstrike where many jumps around shooting in a 1v1 confrontation. |

Ain't jump shoot (i am talking about the pure jump shoot not the 3 skill bug) pretty common in the modern MMO's? They allow Rangers to kite the enemy, it's not like every Ranger is able to use it properly anyway.

working as intended - being able to use combo skill in different order also working as intended. This is just more of the "rangers will differ by the extension of one's ability to control his/her character" LOL
such a little minor bug but i HATE the fact NCSOFT will not admit it and just correct the issue. |
