hmmmm I see a lot of negative posting and such and I feel what some other people feel, bad experiences from other games and then when you find a game again that looks interesting it seems to head to the same direction just like the other ones. Well for one I just hope people realize it is difficult to get rid all these problems in one go. For one I'll be supportive of NCSoft and Aion hopefully they will push through which I believe they will they seem to be working hard from some of the posts I've been reading. I'll probably end up bad mouthing it once it reaches retail here in the USA and still has the same problems going four months in lols hopefully it wont happen.

I love how people reading translated posts from Korea think they know more about the game than those who are actually playing it and seeing everything first hand. Arvalo, Mark, the late Calindor, Fleiva, among others all say the game is spectacular and has had a much better launch than anything to come out recently, yet the people who've never so much as gotten past the login screen think they're correct in calling the game an epic failure doomed to be overrun by bots and bugs.

What's even more sad is the various attacks on AYase, I can't believe it's progressed this far. The guy has been nothing but polite and genuine in everything that he says, and he's been an Aion supporter since day 1 (which is how he got his job). Yet you have the gall to say that his posts are BS? Grow up. If you've been here for at least a year, you'd have no doubt that Ayase is sincere.

Also, do you guys honestly think that after so much time and effort has been put into this game, they're just going to let it self-destruct? If you were at PAX or GC08 and saw the enthusiasm and passion the staff have for this game, you'd know that there's no way they'll watch it fall apart without a damn good fight

give players power to kill bots. derive algorithm that all bots follow and then proceed to give players the ability to identify the algorithm and destroy them.

I think Koroem's post was covering a lot of issues, so I'll reply to the formulations in it I find relevant (nothing against you mate, I just thought you summarized quite a few interesting points well!).

ACTUALLY : While this may have been the case in last generation games you played before that also originated from Korea, we will in fact be looking to get feedback from the player base and make something of it (Wow! I know, right!? :P). There's always a tight balance between the developers' vision for the game and the many subsections of the community's visions for the game, but wherever there's space, there will be community feedback to fill it up. As you know, Aion hasn't been released yet, but you can count on that it's our plan once it is. Remember, we'll be players just as much as you will be and will make sure to "read the vibe" of the community (again - this is you!), making sure that the game is as good as it can be (the sky's the limit).

ACTUALLY : I don't know where to start with this one! While I haven't worked on any other NCsoft games, I did play Lineage II as a regular player and I've come to see multiple sides of this argument. I can guarantee that we have no love for 'bots' or individuals using them (read: lowlifes - provocative enough?). Each subscription fee earned from a bot is equally or more out-weighed by the loss of a real player. It doesn't make sense from a business perspective, and we sure wouldn't be able to keep any morale up whatsoever if we would be making games for bots. We're running this game for you guys and if you don't like what's happening, then you can be sure that someone internally already issued a team-wide alarm to resolve whatever might be the issue. Important to remember is that Rome wasn't built over a night and even if construction techniques have improved to date, it's a difficult feat to pull off.

ACTUALLY : You are right in that it's very difficult to eliminate the bots and immensely difficult to get balancing close to perfection, but that's not a reason to give up. There's been a lot of negativity on these boards lately and a lot of people don't believe in our ambitions or capability to do this right. It makes me very sad, but we are still as determined as ever to launch Aion here in the west properly and with as few hick-ups or disturbing moments as possible. Balancing? We've got time and I'm sure that the landscape will have changed before we release here. Bots? We've got warheads and troops lined up in front-line bunkers to deal with this. It is a bit like that part in the latest Resident Evil movie (not the Japanese one) where the rage-infected zombies are amassing to break down the last fence of the desert laboratory. But like in all movies, the good guys always win, and we're the good guys this time around. Maybe RE wasn't a good example from that perspective, but I think you get the picture.

ACTUALLY : Don't suck it up! Feedback makes us better. Constructive Feedback. Not the other kind that has to do with brute ogres living in deep forests. There are just a few things to keep in mind.

For this particular case, it's all about the release in Korea. Don't forget that. If you have problems with the Korean version, take it up with them. There are right now hundreds of thousands of players over there that will ultimately make sure that you get a better gaming experience when eventually playing the English version. We'll do our best to have a product that works for the west when we launch it next year and we will be asking you for feedback on how it's running. That's a given. We need to keep a constant dialogue to make the best out of Aion. You're right there, I'm right here. Let's walk and talk.

I've seen some good ideas in other threads on how to combat botting, and if there's something we're not already considering I'll be sure to pass it on deeper into our company hive.

That's all.

How much hold does NcSoft West even have on the korean developers to tell them to implement several features we want?
this was answered ( direct quote, apologies if I'm mistaken ) :

We are lucky enough to be basing our western release on an improved and even more polished version next year, so the infancy issues that are being brought up here will be addressed if they indeed prove to be a problem. Just as the Korean players who have experience with the Korean version of the game are its feedback base, we will of course be looking at our own version and getting similar continuous feedback on it from you guys, once we launch it here.

Bots are just a function of HIGH DEMAND for an ILLEGAL THING = BLACK MARKET. It's no different with drugs in the real world. Historically, there are only two solutions that can possibly work: (a) you make the drugs (adena etc.) legal, eliminating the black market; or (b) you make the event physically impossible to do. In a game like this, the latter is easy: you cannot sell or trade or drop anything. The economy becomes 100% personal -- i.e., you get what you earn and what luck gives you. Now, I am not necessarily advocating that -- many people like to have an economy. But if we really cared about "no bots and game play" more than the economy, that would certainly work.

Like I said numerous times : you have to do both . Let's stick to the comparison with illegal substances : in the past various governments have attempted to tackle this problem supply-side only to see it fail utterly .Why? Because when someone can make more money- due to demand there is - with that illegal substance than with any legal one they will do that. It's only when it becomes totally uninteresting for the fellow - i.e. he earns less cash with illegal goods ( due to demand decreasing rapidly ) - he will start earning his cash with doing legally sound stuff.

That doesn't mean you have to let him be whilst he's doing anything illegal, but you have to work both sides of the issue : demand and supply.

Eleven pages and we still haven't gotten anywhere closer to finding Nirvana. I understand you people are anxious, excited, and fustrated, but you're not acting (posting?) rationally. Sensationalism abounds in this thread, even after Ayase himself has attempted to make it clear that NCsoft West is trying to outdo it's predecessors with Aion.

Please refrain from further senseless sensationalism. NCsoft's Community Coordinators/Managers/Liasons and their superiours have heard you and plan on championing your cause to the best of their abilities. If you refuse to believe their words, that's your problem. I will personally reserve judgement until Aion is released in North America and Europe.

Thank you for reading.
