They CAN ban by hardware ID. Only way to get around that is a new comp.

what do you mean by hardware ID? as far as i know most IDs, even MAC adresses can be changed via software nowadays because they dont burn it on the chip anymore, but on the eeprom memory because its cheaper.

I won't. I'd take good grammar over some lazy *** who can't be bothered to type correctly, especially when Firefox will fix their spelling for them (then again, most people who can't type correctly are idiots and still haven't switched over from IE to the superior FF).

I am not sure, but isn't there some legal problem with reporting HW and SW components over internet and base some system on those? I remeber the fuss over Intel PentiumIV's when they made processor serial number visible.

Nah, not really. M$ uses it to validate Windows installs, and the Starforce copyprotection thing does the same.

I jumped a guy's *** in Runes of Magic today cuz he was like 'anyone der?'. I know I should've just left it alone but goddamnit, I can't stand people chipping away at the English language one word at a time until we all sound like neanderthals. I can see cases of linguistic evolution like 'every day' turning into 'everyday', but 'der'? **** that.

I believe after playing guild wars for the last 3 1/2 years that ncsoft has a positive attitude towards getting rid of bots. GG isn't perfect but anything bigger and better would have severe impacts on server lag and it covers the basics of our account security which we do need. in the early days of GW's there were plenty of bots around and for sale on ebay along with ingame items. But ncsoft caught on, not only do they now ban them in there masses, but because of the eula and copyright laws they actually pull peoples adverts on ebay making it harder for gold sellers and forcing them to make their own sites. I seem to remember Blizzard successfully shutting down some gold selling sites through the courts and you can be sure legal matters by the gaming industry continue.

Its never gonna be an easy thing to totally get rid of them but it is our duty as a community to report first ***** later. they don't have GM's scouring the maps and servers 24/7 searching for them. Let them know where the bot hotspots are and they'll do something about it, don't assume they know about it just because you see them there all the time
