Im pretty dissapointed with alchemy, I've been trying to sell pots but the time spent on gathering subella and then making pots does not = a good profit. Not only that but a lot of people are leveling up alchemy till they can make the major pots (or hell even the greater ones) and just gathering and making their own pots. Wind Serums aren't selling that great, and the scrolls just nobody wants them. I made a test sale by selling 500 greater courage scrolls at 1000 kinah each. Put the store up for 12 hours.. never sold 1.. rofl.. I'm just dissapointed that our expert craft sucks as a money maker compared to other professions. My friend that is an expert Tailor already made a killing crafting his expert patterns, and a legion member that leveled the easiest profession in the world (cooking) is making a killing off 4000DP food.

Honestly if you wanna make money as an alchemist you need to stay clear away from ANY type of potions that includes recovery pots at 400+.
Money makers are the +30% Scrolls for Run Speed/Flight, and +15' Crit mana stones. The best money maker in Alchemy is hands down Weapons. But no one makes them becus of what it takes to make. I sold 2 Blue Expert lvl 35 books for 3.5m each in literally 20 mins. Starting to think i priced them to low. The game is FULL of sorcs, and the only thing on there mines is ganking for abyss points, what better to gank than some M.Boost Stones, M.Boost food, and a deadly blue/gold Book. There are very very very very little high level books/orbs in the broker There dieing for them. Scrolls sell like mad, and you can sell the greater scrolls for at least 6k each. I sell mine for 10k each and there all gone within an hour on weekends. Only make pots for yourself not for the market, becus the idiot alchemists will undercut you and ruin your craft. My Alchemy is 446 And im putting all my money into crafting Level 45 gold Books now. No competition and the people undercutting are way to poor to attempt these books becus there not making any money selling for NPC value. Separate yourself from the idiots and you will rake in the money in no time. You dont have to be expert to make money btw level 35 Books/Orbs sell for millions bite the bullet and make them its worth it. |

Alex is right. Weapons are the way to go. I've made quite a few level 25 books and orbs- each of them sells for 400-475k. Hell, the first time I got uber-lucky and sold one for 625k. The mats aren't too bad, as I morph all my ele stones- so much that I'm running out of Aether (hee hee.) Proccing can sometimes be a nyerk due to the need to do it twice, but it is definitely worth the investment at any level.

I make most of my money off scrolls, especially attack speed scrolls. The lessers consistently go for 1200-1500 each, despite the constant undercutting by people with tiny stacks they got as quest rewards. Either they sell out fast or very few are crafting them, because there are rarely more than 1 page's worth of them on the broker, compared to 3 or 4 pages for run/flight speed scrolls and more for other types. It may also be a factor of the recipes being rare - I ground up from 200 to 399 alchemy on work orders over the last few days, and while I got several copies of the recipes for regular and greater crit, run speed, and flight speed scrolls, I didn't get a single one for any kind of attack speed scroll. On the broker, there are a ton of cheap recipes for the run speed and flight speed scrolls, but hardly any recipes for attack speed.
You do have to time the market with scrolls, mind you. My scrolls tend to sell best when people are gearing up for a fort fight - if I put up a bunch on a Monday morning and no forts go vulnerable until Wednesday, odds are my scrolls won't sell until Wednesday evening. |

On my server it is not those people who do not know how to make money undercutting me, it is those who are bots who are undercutting me. Example: greater life serum I can sell by the 1000's for 2k a pop and turn around to see the botters sell the majors for 1400 per unit, so ibought the 1000 which were for sale delisted at 3k each in addition to the ones I made . It takes a little longer to sell but within 48 hours I typically will sell everything I have listed.
Though from reading this, I shall be changing my strategy slightly and add more to the mix. ATM on a good night I make about 750k profit. Thanks for the tips and suggestions on what works and does not work for you as I fast approach the 400 skill level in alchemy. |
