399-400 Armorcrafting
Needing to make the Cratsman's Shining Strengthened Orich Sheild to progress the quest. Guessing it is a level 50 shield. Anyone know which workorder has a chance for the design? I haven't lucked into it yet and can't find it on the broker.

Is the 399 work order something you can repeat? I did it once and now it doesn't re appear. Is it possible to just buy the Craftsman's Shining Strenghtened Orichalcum Shield from AH and turn it in? Just can't seem to get the Craftman's Orich Shield recipe from the 390 or 380 work order :/

Ugh. At this point, no way I'll ever get 399-400. Well, at least not until I get to level 40+ and can see if the mats are able to be farmed at that level. |

Problem is the 33 level recipes are so enticing ... esp. if you're around level 33. So you have to get to level 40 to find the mats, to get the ability to make items 7 levels below you. Kind of unfair - perhaps the 400+ recipes should be only for levels 40 and up? I mean it's a really good way to ensure the kinah farmers stay in business but pretty much impossible for anyone doing it the honest way.

Does anyone know what the next step is after this shield? Or is this the 2nd item crafted for the Armorsmith expert quest (ever expert quest so far seems to have 2 items you need to craft), my husband is a few points off. Just trying to get some info before he gets there

But unless your husband buys gold or has been extremely lucky (as in, winning-the-state-lottery-three-times-in-a-year lucky) getting the mats, the order is near impossible (considering he may actually fail a few times before he crits). Good luck tho ![]() |

2. Second step is to take the follow-up "Expert" quest. It involves crafting a Aion Armory Item. This is a white recipe that you are trying to proc a green from. You probably already learned the white recipe as a WO reward, but if not, you can buy it from the mats vendor. You can also purchase this shield off the AH if you want (depending on the price, it probably won't be cheaper than trying to craft yourself) as you just need one to turn in and it doesn't HAVE to be crafted by you. This requires: Craft: Strengthened Adamantium Shield - Recipes - Aion. 3. Third, and I assume final, step is to create the Aion Armory Item which is an HQ proc off the green recipe. The biggest problem with this is obtaining the mats. You basically need to be level 40-45 to have a chance at obtaining the mats. Craft: Craftsman's Strengthened Orichalcum Shield - Recipes - Aion This requires (not listed on AionArmory): * 37 Large Orichalcum Plates (4 ingots = 4 ores * 37 = 148 ores; 2 agents each * 37 = 74 agents) * 31 Medium Orichalcum Plates (3 ingots = 3 ores * 31 = 93 ores; 2 agents each * 31 = 62 agents) * 56 Orichalcum Wires (2 ingots = 2 ores * 56 = 112 ores) 353 ores (Okay, someone please doublecheck that as I was thinking it was 706 before). * 5 Craftsman's Premium Refining Stones (the hardest mat to acquire) * 11 Aether of High Purity * 17 Orichalcum Ore of High Purity In all, it's 353 Orichalcum Ore and 136 dissolving agents (~20,000 kinah for agents) per attempt. On my server, the Ores go for 500-1,000 kinah each, the Refining Stones 5-10 million kinah each, the Aether are ~5,000 kinah each, and the High Purity Ores are 3,000-5,000 kinah each. Also, each ore requires you to use an Active Carbon to craft an ingot. At 1,188 kinah each, that's 419,364 kinah. Uh...seriously? Even if you farm all of your mats, it will still require nearly 450,000 kinah spent on just vendor mats to actually attempt each shield. All of the "Expert" recipes are 400+ skill. Having access to craft all of the new endgame recipes in 1.5 will require completing this shield quest. It really will take your legion farming mats like crazy to allow you enough attempts. I assume Weaponsmithing and Sewing and such will require equally challenging 399-400 point quests which will probably more than max your legion's resources. At this point, I don't see any reason for me to move beyond this quest or even attempt it. Even if I were to purchase gold, you're looking at $15 for 10 million (bare minimum of 32 million per attempt); $135 or more for three attempts. Seriously not worth it. I really don't see what the point is in making it so terribly difficult to complete this quest. It's not like you're even going to keep and use the reward. Adding insult to injury, the Expert Armorsmith title is probably the worst of all of the trade titles and really not any better than run-of-the-mill titles you get through regular questing. Titles here: - Aion. ******************************** ******************************** ******************************** UPDATE: I have now successfully completed the 399-400 quest! It took me 6 attempts to finally get my HQ proc. In looking at the links that are above now, I'm not sure why they changed at AionArmory, so if it looks wrong - just ignore it for now. You do craft the Craftsman's Shining Strengthened Orichalcum Shield which is no longer on the Armory for whatever reason. From Elyos perspective, once you complete your Craftsman's Shining Strengthened Orichalcum Shield crafting, talk with Vulcanus. He gives you 200,000 xp (you do get a whole 2,052 xp for each "successful" failure at the shield) for the quest completion and Vulcanus' Recommendation. Accept the New Quest: [Expert Armorsmithing Expert] (http://www.aionarmory.com/quest.aspx?id=1942). Then click "I'll go at once". Take the elevator pad upstairs and talk with Fasimedes. He'll progress you through a cutscene. Click OK and you'll be given http://www.aionarmory.com/item.aspx?id=125001837 and http://www.aionarmory.com/item.aspx?id=152200370 as well as 25,000 xp. While you're there, be sure to pick up the Sanctum Quest. You can talk with Bustant in the Hall of Prosperity to unlock a row (8 slots) in your personal warehouse and earn 15,000 xp! Go back to Vulcanus and talk with him. Click "Learn Armorsmithing". You'll see: "The Armorsmithing skill has been upgraded to 400 points. Maximum skill level of Armorsmithing has been upgraded to Level 5." This is a free upgrade. According to the armory it's the same for weaponsmith, Asmo gets phys crit/attack/parry, Elyos get....magic boost/m.acc/fire def. Do plate wearers on the Elyos side really get screwed this bad if they want to craft their own armor and weaps? |

Thanks so much. ------------------------- Quote:
There are differences between class abilities for Asmos/Elyos so it wouldn't surprise me that the titles would have different bonuses. Last edited by Organic; 08-11-2009 at 02:24 PM.. Reason: Automerged Double-Post. |
