How to gain skill at 400+

I'm on 400 armorcraft and can't find how to gain skill, I tried exchanging hearts for designs, they're all 420-430 skill, you can buy designs from the merchant there, they're all 410 skill, i remember reading about refining the parts into ingots for skill or something, could someone explain?

Can you still do the 370, 380 and 390 work orders after you hit 400 in Armorsmithing?

Zilpah,

No you can not do them, I mean you can do them but you do not gain off of them so it's pointless

I see, thanks.

I'm at 399 now and was planning to do the 370-390 work orders after I finished the Expert-quest, in order to both get skillpoints and the designs for the level 48 armor. I will have to rethink my strategy now.

Talk to the Shugo in Sanctum in the main crafting hall. Learn the 3 refining skills. Now guy buy or farm all the Thick Balaur materials. Refine them to get to 420 skill.

At 420 skill go talk to Mr Shugo again, this time learn the 3 new refining designs. Go farm or buy all the Hard Balaur materials you can. Refine them to get to 440+

At 440 (grats almost there!!!) go talk to Mr Shugo again, this time learn the last 3 refining designs. Go farm or buy all the Solid Balaur materials you can. Congratulation on 449 skill. Now the real challenge begins. Getting all the good designs.

Welcome to the true expert crafting!

Actually at 400, you lose ALL work orders, even the 390 ones. You can't get them, period.

Basically what Farr said. Balaur parts. Exchange hearts for recipes. Some of the green recipes can be purchased from the Tigraki shugo. The blues and higher level greens (Dragon/Dragon King, iirc), are from balaur hearts and hot balaur hearts respectively.

I know what going on here, you can't take two expert quests at the same time. You have to wait till you finish the Weaponsmithing one completely to take on the Armorsmithing one. ^_^
