Need Shield Recipe to Get Expert Promotion Quest?

Can anyone confirm/deny that you need the shield recipe learned to get the expert promotion quest?

I don't have the orichalcum yet, but I have completed the 399 work order. I am an expert cook already if that makes a difference, but NOT a master (449). Also, level 42 so not aware of any restriction that would apply to my situation...

To my knowledge you just have to have one to turn in to the guy. However, if you want to be cautious and grind out your design be ready for a grind. It took me 193 work orders to get my shield design.

Sorry, maybe I was unclear...I have already completed the 399 work order, but he hasn't offered me any quest to even turn in a shield for...

So when you click him you do not see a new quest called something like Governor's Shield? It's easy to miss that one, if its not there I cannot help you sorry.

Edit - Reading Comprehension for the win. You've already completed the Make 18 shield quest. I would petition it.

I don't have the source, but I recall reading that you can only work on 1 expert craft at a time from 400 to 449. When you hit 449, you are then allowed to work on your second craft mastery.

In this case, you have to max your cooking to 449 first, before pursuing expert Armorsmithing.

"You can Master 2 Crafting Professions: After you have mastered a profession and maxed it out to 449, you can talk to the other crafting master that you would like to become a Master in. You can then take the Expert Test for the second profession to reach level 5 and max the second craft out at 449."

thanks much, i suspected this might be the case so i'm rapidly trying to finish up cooking (437ish now)

edit: for those that keep track of such things i had to do around 500k kinah worth of additional 390 work orders to get the worthy shield for expert quest...doh!

And yes, those 390 work orders stack up. Had to grind 73 orders before I got the recipe.

The Expert Test is given after you pay to the Crafting Master the 1.5 million Kinah? I'm a little confused on this...
