Outnumberd?

I remember reading somewhere that in CB2, the Asmodian were outnumbered 3:1? If I remember correctly. Castle siege's in Lineage II were strongly influenced by what side had more endgame players. Won't this be the same in Aion?

In Battlegrounds in World of Warcraft each side had a cap number of people, so even though the Alliance far out numbered the Horde on most servers, the Horde could still win in a Battleground. Details on the Abyss are limited right now, but if NCsoft does not deal with this issue correctly, we could be look at really unbalanced PvP.

Will the Asmodian have any chance taking a Castle from a foe that outnumbers them even 2:1?

I think if the ratio will be 2:1 (just for an example) it won't be too bad. That ratio will come down to skill and who knows how to play their class. Sometimes skill outbeats numbers IMO

2:1 yeah, but not 5:1. That's called a zerg.

In most cases if someone knows how to play their class and arent rtards you will not die in a 2:1 ratio.

I'm not sure if they will help 100% in the 5:1 case, but it is my understanding that the Balaur are designed for that purpose. In some cases I've heard them described as free agents that side with whoever they want. But the way some Q&A's have been answered it certainly seems to me that they have a greater agenda.

For some reason, it seems that people think the Balaur will help the losing race.

No.

The Balaur, if they join, will join whichever race they please. Let's say one time, the Elyos outnumber Asmodians 3:1, and the Balaur help the Asmodians out, then another time, the Elyos outnumber the Asmodians 5:1, and the Balaur help the Elyos.

You'll never know which side they're on.

And, even if say, the Balaur and Elyos team up and defeat the Asmodians, the Balaur might then attack the Elyos while they're weak, and possibly defeat them.

The Balaur are unpredictable. Kthx.

Has anything about how the Balaur participate in PvP even really been announced in any kind of detail?

I'm sure that NCsoft is well aware of the problem that Aion will have if they do not add some kind of server side PvP balance in the Abyss Zone. Otherwise whatever side has more people will have a much higher advantage.

We can already see that they are attempting to balance the game by letting Asmodians level faster at the start. Letting the Asmodians level faster will give them the advantage at the games release. Asmodians will be in the Abyss before the Eloys.

I think this is only one of the first steps NCsoft is making towards making the Abyss zone balanced.

But who knows, this is only my speculation.

If you watch the interviews with the devs you'll see them explain that the Balaur are not unpredictable. They are actually the main balancing factor in the abyss. Just wanted to clear that up, seemed some people were confused.

Quote:
Don't forget that Balaur are here to balance the game, so if the Asmodians control 90% of castles present in the Abyss, Balaur won't be agressive towards Elyos, and if the Abyss is way too unbalanced, GM's may take control of the Balaur faction. They have a lot of artillery like Battle-carrier, so there are different levels of them.

Hmm, being outnumbered might actually be a fun challenge at times...within reason of course.
