Will the last four posters please scroll up and watch the second video I posted, the one that shows the varied lands the Asmodians inhabit, all of which have both day and night time. As far as the matter of colors, the frozen mountain area that has been shown in this thread several times includes heavy emphasis on light blues, whites, silver, and yellows. All of this is subject to day and night, it is hardly a "darker" setting. There is a desert area that uses similar color scheme to the Elyos desert save for the green is a bit more green in that palette, also has day and night. Every region in the asmodian lands has day and night, it is not all that darker, the big difference is that at night the Asmodians get a light show from all the plants and some rocks. They even have a forest, but instead of the leaves on the trees being green they are a reddish color. Don't believe me watch the video in my earlier post.

In my honest opinion, Asmodians aren't depressing. Their landscape is darker, but that's due to their lore, and due to the fact that most pictures of their areas are at night... my guess is that if you saw it during the day, you may think that it was Elyos. If you ask me, it gives them a unique twist. Elyos are simply the "normal" people with "normal" landscapes. And why do I say normal? Because they have always had light and green scenery. Asmodians once had such lush areas, but once the tower was broken, they were forced into the "darker" way of life.
I don't understand why people think them depressing, dark, or evil. They're simply a race that needed to adapt. If you ask me, that makes them all the more beautiful. |

One of the biggest reasons that I chose Elyos was the landscape seemed to be more lush and bright. However, @ PAX I was surprised at the Asmo landscape. My brother was playing Asmo right next to me and I couldn't tell much of a difference between the two environments. Granted, we were just playing in the noob zones but it wasn't as dark and gloomy as I expected. My guild has already chosen Elyos so it doesn't make much of a difference to me but given the choice now it would be a tough call.

I'm going to try both. Of course, it's a matter of personal preference but i simply prefer the more lush, verdant and green lands of light the Elyos inhabit to the somewhat more gloomy Asmo areas. While the screens and movies certainly show some diversity in Asmo lands, i still prefer Elyos

Maybe I am wierd, but as long as the Asmodian side isnt all desert and dead forests and ruins, then the light levels dont bother me. In warcraft, the most depressing places for me were Felwood and the Plaguelands. I liked the Nightelf lands, with their dreamy purple skies and deep forests. That giant forest of mushrooms in Outlands was my favorite spot. If we could have homes there, and could have them in the mushrooms, that would have been neat.

exactly. what ever said less light has to mean only decay!? There's plenty of life in the dark.
