Thumbs up

(9.2) Evasion: Evasion is the main defense method of the Assassin.(there should be a , here rather than a . ) Due to their low (missing an H?)P. {Defense they must rely on avoiding as many hits as possible.}*
* this sentence should be changed.

other than that, great FAQ!
its very helpfull(to me atleast) since i have not desided what class i should be.
The choise is between sin, Sorc or SM

one thing im unsure in regard of crits is the converse rate. is the ratio needed for 1% increase higher for other classes? (yeah spells don't crit i know)

I only play the Assassin, Sorcerer, and SM classes so I can't really tell you for certain how it is for other melee. It's logical that crit would calculate differently for a crit based class, since it's a common feature in other games.

I can't tell you anything for certain though without parsing it, or finding someone else who is credible and done so.

I think there should be numbers on the pattern icons (1, 2, 3, 4, and 5) along with their corresponding colors. Is there anyway to tell NCsoft to do this? I'm going to play an Assassin and this would kill me if I couldn't tell what pattern lvl I'm on!

If you took another (closer) look at the pictures I posted in section 3.1 you will see that there are indeed numbers located on the bottom left. The color progression of the numbers (starting with 2, because the first one has no number) is yellow, green, orange, red.

While I really have to agree with you that it's absurdly difficult to distinguish between the levels other than 3 and 5 at a glance, I excluded it from the FAQ. Many people think it's personal opinion as to whether or not the icons are suitable, so it wouldn't be very good to infer one side or another within the FAQ itself.

There are countless postings debating this very subject. Most of which are located in the official betaboard, but quite a few on AionSource and various other Aion websites, reviews, blogs, etc.

EDIT: Thought I'd add that as of now the official 1.3 patch notes mention nothing about any sort of alteration to the pattern icons. Seeing how 1.3 is the version we'll be launching it's verging on the impossible that we'll see any such change before now and the launch date.

Great guide, I just rerolled an Assassin because I was getting bored of my level 35 Glad. Had no idea how the patterns and such worked until I read this. However, the only thing I don't really agree on is the title. I only got to 35 on my Glad so I haven't seen all the titles but I would say that run speed% titles are the best, especially since the assassin needs as much speed as possible. The best crit I'v seen is only like +3 and even if it was +10, I still don't think it would be worth it over 5% running speed.

I might be wrong here, but if you gain only .5% per 10crit after 400 shouldn't 450 give you 42.5%? Since 0 to 400 is 400/10x1%=40% and from 400 to 450, 50/10x0.5%=2.5%? I'm sorry if I have misunderstood something in you're text, but to me this makes more sense with the info you gave

According to this thread its going to be released with patch 1.5.
Here: NCsoft reveals the version Western Aion will be launching with!

Other then that I like this thread very much thanks for taking time to make it. +Rep for you!

Awesome write-up!

Only one nitpick though, isn't the version we're getting at release labeled as 1.5 instead of 1.3?

Version 1.5 is actually v. 1.3.

The thing is that you have to understand is that speed is cumulative with other effects. So if you were to use Bloodlust + Chanter Speed + Title, it would all be adding up one on top of another. So if you were to use the Sewing Expert title (+52 Maximum HP, +3 Flight Time, +3% Flight Speed, +6% Speed), if you were to use ONLY Bloodlust with your title you would be sitting on 26% speed increase on the ground, not to mention effecting flight as well.

So compare that large of an increase to say +3 crit (which is like .22%). Speed is clearly superior for titles. You also can get crit from things such as sockets, where you can't socket speed.

Aye, you were correct. I just found Neon's post on the first page which states the same and I must've just missed it.

Thanks for pointing it out.
