Rather than moving around in stealth I would prefer skills that made you invisible and 2x run speed for say 5 seconds for example, skills that just benefit your combat and help you get in the right place, rather than being able to move around invisible for long periods of time

thats a interesting idea allthough i think 10 sec duration would be better.
I also hope that we wont get those big name tags aboveour heads. if we wont get those we would realy be able to hide in the bush or behind a rock. that woulld realy be great.

Been looking at the assassin tier and think that short swords would be a very useful weapon to use when required to do quick power strikes at the target. Besides they are very skilled in various weapons as well as poisons and students of the human body to know the strike points that will deal the most effective damage.

Besides the role of the scout has not been fully fleshed out yet. Hopefully the stealth ability of the assassin is not limiting itself to where an assassin can not make one powerful strike while stealth-ed before becoming visible to others. As the game gets more in-depth about this and that, we get to fully immerse ourselves in how we like to develop our characters.

I honestly hate the idea of stealth on a duration. Say what you will about rogues in WoW, but I honestly think they're just about perfect. The class is about using all the dirty, underhanded tricks in your arsenal. And Cal, there's no set skill order. As soon as a skill order gets close being "set" people will start breaking it. The PvP trinket these days breaks EVERYTHING, meaning you can use it on any stun, sleep, fear, charm, etc.

To me, the assassin class is all about picking their moment, going in, doing what they need to do, and getting out. It's about finding ways to attack, restealth, attack again, restealth. You're not supposed to just stand in and fight. Any assassin/rogue that tries to stand in and fight deserves to get raped hard... it's actually the reason I'm a bad rogue in WoW. It's my main, but I still don't play it nearly dirty enough to be really good with it. Back to my point though, I think stealth on a duration limits the assassin far too much and takes away the advantage of stealth. You almost have to let them see you coming then just so you can get close enough that you can hit them before your stealth runs out.

As for the whole not being able to stealth, then fly, I have to say it would ruin assassins, especially if stealth is on a timer. As soon as the enemy saw you coming they'd just take off and you'd never get the hit 'cause you can take off after them. Even if you could take off after them, though, it wouldn't matter unless you have increased movement speed because they'd just take off and keep going. This is why it's essential that stealth not be on a timer. If a rogue is close enough to see an enemy then the enemy can see them, which means you have to anticipate when you're going to see the enemy, get within range (which means walking the entire visible distance in stealth), and get your attack off all before the timer runs out. Honestly it would be more of a hindrance than a benefit.

That's why I said, and will say again, WoW rogues are perfect.

Also, hunters don't stand a chance unless they pop bestial wrath and try to kite with a flare constantly over the rogue to prevent and cloak/vanish... then they stand a chance. Other than that they just have to hope for a dumb rogue... although maybe Post will come in here and make me look stupid with some counter. He knows the class better than me, lawl.

Damn, I was gonna go Assassin. But if they are just melee that can go translucent for a few seconds, I think I'll pass. :/

Agreed. Like you mentioned before id rather have buffs that add to bonuses ie evasion, crit dmg ect. And even though there is a stealth skill gotta consider duration of stealth and re-use time. Not like theres gonna be perm stealth caz thats just ridiculous and if theres a long re-use well...thats just as stupid.

Explain. WoW has already used perma stealth successfully. Unless you're talking about the player being in stealth even while they're attacking... then I'd agree. But, if you're just talking about stealth with no duration you need to back up claims like this, especially considering it has been done and done well and is far from "ridiculous."

Actually, I've seen a friendly PvP video where an Assassin was fighting a Sorceror. Shortly after going invisible, the Sorceror was able to see the Assassin become translucent. His movement was slowed, and after a few seconds, the Assassin vanished. Now, this could also be a result of low quality, but I doubt that. I don't have time to find the video right now, but if someone would like to see it, let me know.

WOW! Now that was what i was talking about but didn't figure you would still be semi transparent after an attack. I wouldn't be surprised by a time limited duration for the buff, after all that is what a assassin is supposed to do, get in hit quickly then get out and try again.

As far as stealth being stupid, that is not always the case unless it was to make the class overpowered. I'm sure there will be some kind of spell or item that will give people the ability to see the stealth-ed assassin. What i really like to find out is what kind of racial abilities for each race will effect the outcome.

So far from what i have seen on the Korean site is a variety of weapons that assassins will use. Now i didn't see much as far as the armor types so we will have to wait for the beta to get any info on those but its looking like the types from lineage2 and the different items that go along with it.

And come to think of it, if your participated in a team battle you could easily sneak up on the enemy while they're concentrating on their opponent.

another thing is as ur lvl gets higher the majority of ur skills will infact stun so it will be so much easier to get behind ur opponent and stay tehre for example. this scout up here didnt have a stun yet so while he was chaing he would only get one attack in then disappear and do it again where as at a highwr lvl he would backstab/stun and then keep going then disappear again afterwards
