Over-populating Assassins?

Do you think that assassins are going to be the super spammed class in Aion? I've always enjoyed rolling the rogue/burglar/assassin class in every game I play, but it's just not as fun if 50% of everyone around you is the same class as you. I think the assassin class draws a lot of people to it for the style of play... DWing, stealth, ninja... Who can not like that? But I do believe it's going to be a VERY popular class.

So while I had planned on rolling a sin as my main, I'm highly reconsidering. What do you think? Would you still want to play assassin if it's the most played class on your server?

From the class related polls i've seen, yes, assassins will be the most popular, however, i don't think that'll stop me from picking it. From what i can see, the class distribution so far is pretty even, so even if it is the most popular, i don't see it getting out of hand.

That's something I was wondering too. The assassin is the most popular class on AionSource indeed. But what about the millions of other players that will join the game in the near future? I don't think we can think about it just yet

As for myself, I usually tend to play the less popular class. I'm looking to bo unique, not to be one little assassin in a crowd of thousands of others that are just the same as I am. If that's the case then I might go for chanter. I would really love to play assassin, but if it's not balanced, it's no fun anymore.

I believe many will play the assassin at first but not for long if they don't know how to play them correctly. This assassin is nothing like the WoW rouge or the L2 assassin, if they don't know its strengths and weaknesses and how to equip the weapons for max damage efficiency then i don't see too many playing it.

Exactly. Playing the most spammed class in the game, just isn't fun. I hope that it will be balanced out when the bulk of the players hit the Aion community. I'm just thinking that if it that way... I better be planning on a different main

And I dunno, from what I see assassin here compares a lot with rogue from WoW. I've heard about the rune weapon thing... But all of the videos that I've watched of assassins in combat, looks like a LOT like the WoW rogue. I don't know about the combo points here though. But I really do hope they are nothing alike to actually play

There are millions of other players that are not registered on AionSource. Maybe some of them will be assasins, like most ppl here on AionSource, but if they don't know a sh!t about assa style, they'll sure change class, or they'll be weak.

Ahem...That's the thing, Assasins don't want to be spotted they are everywhere and nowhere..."understand?"

Yep, true. I think many will just leave Assa cuz they don't know how to play it, or tehy don't like the style (like they wanna be in the middle of the battle)...

For the game to be balanced assassins will have a weakness & you cant have a group full of assassins to get through the game.

Id laugh if i saw 20 assassins grouped up at some town wanting a group.

If you look, chanter may be one, if not THE most popular class. Alot of people are thinking this way, which leads them to want to be either tanks, or healers. So hopefully assassin won't be overpopulated like we imagine them to be.

That's what it will be like though, it's usually like that anyway.

Lol... Exactly. Just tons and tons of them.

And I don't think people sucking at a class makes them play another class... Usually assassin isn't complicated, lol. And they usually just roll another class and suck at it too. SO many people(Especially huge anime fans) could care less if they suck, they just want to be that 'leet cool ninja from Naruto!!!' and that's totally OK with me We all play games for different reasons. You've got the carebears, rollplayers, noobs, the experienced, the older players, skilled players and elitist.

Carebears and Rollplayers usually tend not to be great players. They play to enjoy the game, every last flower, ever bird in the sky and every cleft on ever cliff will be explored by these people. And that's great ! I've got lots of both of those types from different games.

Noobs are just people who are new to MMO or perhaps new the the assassin class. They eventually adapt to either the carebear, rollplayer or experienced or group.

Experienced players make up most of the MMO population. They're the ones who have played 1 or more MMOs in the past on and off. They understand the basics of MMOs and game engine.

Older players... I mean about the age of 45(I don't think we'll have many of those playing Aion). They are similar to Carebear and Rollplaying group... they like to enjoy the game, see it all. But they also are more aggressive with the content. Sometimes they are skilled players, but usually... they take much longer to adapt to a new game and become good. And they think since they've played a lot of other MMOs, they are automatically leet gods of knowledge. NOTE!! I'm not saying all people 40 years + are like this ^_~ Just a lot of the ones I've dealt with in MMOs seem to be this way!

Skilled players. Just good players who learn their class well, and they play it good. They enjoy the game and they are always learning how to improve.

Elitist. They play the game to be best, don't care about game features, don't care about you or me. They will use people to get to the top. They will probably rock your *** if you fight them as same class.

Assassins fit will into almost all of these groups.

Noobs pick the class because it looks fun. And assassin usually is.
Rollplayers look to the assassin class to be their man because they are sitting in a Kenshin, Naruto or Inuyahsa outfit reading this post right now.
Experienced players pick assassin because they've saw that it's always a really good class in most all other MMOs.
Elitist pick assassin because it's usually in one way or another... a very good pvp class.

I doubt people will roll another class because they don't understand it... I've for one never saw that happen.

EDIT------------------------------
If you don't believe me... Go play Guild Wars.

It at least seems like the people on AionSource are most interested in assassin...

I looked at the Class poll and Spiritmaster/Chanter are the bottom two, members minds might've changed since then. Assassin is also the most popular.

I think most people rolling assassin will give up half-way there. Usually, the first character created doesn't last long. Who knows? Maybe even you won't play because it might not fit your playstyle after all. We can't know until we've tryed.

No matter what you do there will always be a lot of other people doing the same, mostly. I won't refrain from rolling the class I enjoy just because it's overpopulated, I'll just beat 90% of the assassin population.. that way I'm still unique

To my experience it seems like class choices are pretty even, and if anything ranger seems to be more popular.

Right you are! Which leads me to believe people are getting tired of that and want to try something new maybe... but that's a bit specific. I really hope everything is balanced, I just don't see it being that way.

@Dez, well that is one way to stand out Works well in other games, if you can really back it up.
