Vista and AION

I was just wondering. Will AION be Vista compatible. I am currently running Vista and I have a lot of problems running Lineage II lately. Lineage is Vista compatible but Game Guard isn't and causes major security errors. Right now I can't get Lineage II to run at all. I just want to start an open discusion about this issue. Aion will probably be released in a time where genarly all new PC will be sold running Vista. People might buy a new PC just to be able to play Aion and then discover that it won't run on Vista.

It's available to businesses now. It releases to the general public at the end of January. Games under development now should already be testing in-house on Vista to ensure future compatibility.

DirectX 9.0L or something (L for Legacy I suppose) should help Vista support older DX 9.0 games.

So, yeah, Aion's probably going to work with Vista, but not perfectly. Ever new OS is going to have a couple problems with various software. Here's to hoping Aion is an exception, though I seriously doubt it.

The main problem are not the games themselves. I haven't found a game that doesn't run in Vista. The problem with Lineage II is that it uses GameGaurd. GameGaurd does not run properly on Vista. So you could say my question is:

Will NCsoft incorporate GameGaurd into Aion?

Hopefully not. I don't like GameGuard very much, and juding by the amount of botting going on in L2, GameGaurd doesn't work anyhow.

Its put into 90% of the Asian Market MMOs I've ever tried and annoys the hell out of me.

We need big as GM Dragons that just go around Pking botters

that would be great.

As for the Vista thing I probably wont even buy Vista till its 100% necissary because its always nice to leave them to patch some bugs first. Also I think Microsoft would shoot itself in the Foot a bit if they made it so people couldnt play older games on the vista interface, imagine the amount of uproar from all the people who play CounterStrike alone.

gamegaurd is just one big load of crap...

its takes up resources, causes crashes + issues, didnt help against any major botting programs, and sniffs out all programs and what you use on your computer and also interfers with them at times...
gg NCsoft... so glad im not playing that crap game anymore

I think its safe to assume Aion itself won't be causing problems with Vista. But indeed as stated before GG might create some problems. However GG will bring out a vista compatible version as soon as they can (well or they will just lose all their costumers in time).

And yes indeed GG doesn't work as promised, but it does make it unable for people to implement the easiest bots, etc... Basicly its a defense against IT newbs that feel like trying something (which is something I find useful). As for the problems it gives for normal users... ya those are a pain sometimes, but they can always be solved with relative ease...

Aion will work with Vista, Vista is already developed and you will start seeing most games with the "Games for Windows" logo. Aion isn't out for several months after Vista anyway, this allows PLENTY of time for optimizing. Every other game works great with vista that i've noticed so Aion should be no different.

if aion will run on directx 10 it ll need to be on vista. But yes i do think it come's on vista. if they dont a lot of people would not be able to play vista. *hope's it runs on xp to*

I'll bump this post.

So, any changes? Aion will be fully compatible with Vista 64bit version? Because it's a major turn-off for me, if a patch that in WoW like today, totally screws up your will to continue subscribing, because the patch cannot be applied on most Vista 64bit systems.
