Graphics Cards...
Now, I know next to nothing about G-Cards. I basically know something like 32 bit, 64 bit etc. Now, my computer has 64 bit! Taht will NOT be able to do Aion! So, I'm getting a new G-Card.
Would a 128 bit one do it on Low or Medium? I wanan get the best deal that will do it quickly on Low and alright on Medium. I had something liek this on my mind. RADEON X1900XT, 512MB GDDR3, Dual-Link, VIVO + A on eBay, also Graphics Video Cards, Graphics, Video TV Cards, Desktop PC Components, Computing (end time 24-Jan-08 18:13:29 GMT) I don't know how big that came out..... And I'm not definitely getting that... So any info is appreciated! Thanks dudes!

ok, as with farcry, you can run aion, excepting for the graphics card, however, your experience will be terrible, with lag on minimum details, with that machine you can upgrade your graphic card 1 step more, but if you want to upgrade your vga more, or enough to run the game with a decent loading time, i'd rather change some more things, otherwise you will end up burning your parts. One thing you'll be needing for sure tho is more HD space, aion now requires 20GB iirc.
Edit: 8500 gama is terrible for gaming from what i've heard, and the 6200 seems quite expensive for those specs tbh. Pro tip: Work a bit this summer and get yourself something better to enjoy aion instead of suffering it :P Last edited by Fleiva; 01-22-2008 at 05:36 PM.. |

both cards are terrible
6200 is not a gaming card.. it actually is 70% weaker than a 8500gt As for your system what concerns me is that you list 510MB of ram to me that is a sign of INTEGRATED GRAPHICS (integrated video card components will always use 1MB of system ram.. and sometimes integrated sound cards too) You have an older model P4 probably which is okay still Ram is definately not going to cut it these days at 510(512MB total probably) the fact you failed for video card confirms you probably dont' even have a video card but an integrated component You will need to find out if you got AGP or PCI-E .. being you own a Dell you should contact them and find out unless you feel comfortable opening up the case. a good, cheap video card that will get the job done I recommend this for PCI-E Newegg.com - EVGA 512-P2-N773-AR GeForce 8600GTS 512MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail 8600gts 512MB (cheap at $170/$150 after rebate; but also packs a good punch in games unless you plan on playing at like 1600x1200) if you got an AGP slot Newegg.com - PNY VCG76512SAPB GeForce 7600GS 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 AGP 4X/8X Video Card - Retail (512MB 7600gs which isn't bad ; but not exactly uber either.. $120 after rebate.. $100 if you want a 256MB model) or Newegg.com - HIS Hightech H26XQT512ANP Radeon HD 2600XT 512MB 128-bit GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X HDCP Ready Video Card - Retail which is $170 the 2600xt 512MB... you can buy one w/o the heatsink for $99 but it will run hot and if you got a dell case :P you don't have much airflow (trust me i've got parents and family who own dells.. they got crap airflow unless you bought the expensive gamer models) cheap solutions but odds are they are far superior than what you are running right now.. especially if you failed the test on the GPU part

Then divide by 2 and round up, 1.94 dollars to a pound. People post currency in relation to where they live.
But to answer your questions you need to upgrade your video card, it doesnt have to be anything fancy, and you definitely need to get a gig of ram, 1024 as opposed to your 512, if not not 2 gigs to really help the cause. enjoy.

Just my two cents on the subject now
![]() with that age system, i mean the low speed p4 id assume its AGP. In which case your best bet would probably be something like an x1900 or a 7800 ![]() both of which although older cards now, were top end in their day so still pack some power behind them. I would personally steer clear of the the 2600 eternal linked, although a newer card the memory is not so great (128-bit) in comparison to the others linked (256-bit). But in the (unlikley) result that you have PCI-E the best card would probably be something like the 8600 linked earlier. The site i have linked from (OcUK) is a decent UK computer parts company, used em for years no hassel, alright prices. A quick question as well for anyone else as im not too sure, would he be able to find out if he is AGP or PCI-E through checking the display adapter properties location in Dev.Manager? i have PCI-E and mine reports PCI-bus, would AGP throw back AGP? just a thought, unable to test.
